Great Choice

Bought these pants for my 5yr old as a reward for getting so good so fast. She loves the paisley print and they keep her warm and dry, which makes her love skiing even more, which makes me happy. Bought them at 50% off and very satisfied; full price is too steep for a growing child. Burton pants are sized huge, so beware. If you follow the sizing chart, you'll be getting some big, baggy pants. Buy a belt. The paisley print is a little girl's dream. |

Best Ski/Board Pants I've Ever Owned

Funny how things work. These were super-cheap on WhiskeyMilitia, so I had a pair sent to my buddy in Summit County, CO who always lets me crash at his place, but has had the same pathetically duct-taped ski pants for the last 15 years. I totally guessed wrong on the size (these things are sized BIG), so instead of returning them I traded him some other gear and took them for myself thinking I might wear them sleigh-riding with my kids or shoveling the driveway. As it turns out, I love them. My main ski pants have been kicked to the curb, big time. Best ski pants I own, and I am a total good-gear addict, so this is saying something here, people. These pants are...awesome. Yes, they are sized big, so beware if baggy ain't your thing. Me, I like baggy; better freedom of movement and can stash stuff in the pockets without compromise. I'm 6'0", 180lbs and wear size L...with a much needed belt. I could easily wear a Medium. As for the weight, yes, they wear a TON out of the box, but that has a lot to do with the removable liner that comes with it...which I recommend you remove and wear as lounge pants while writing reviews for your gear. Sans liner, they feel much more normal, although still on the heavy side. But don't worry, the feel is less heavy and more sturdy. I wore them in Maine recently during a three day stretch where the temps never went above zero. One day I wore the pants with no liner, no base layer at all, and did fine. Next day donned a simple base layer and could've taken a nap in -5 degree weather. Pockets are fantastic (hand and back pockets zip, snap AND Velcro), with no annoying cargo pocket seams interfering with your knee movement. I don't need or use the waist gaiter, but its a nice idea. These are some well-built, functional and super stylin' pants. I'm fast becoming a convert to the Church of Special Blend. Excellent stuff. |

Substance AND Style

Bought this jacket for my boarder wife. This jacket in eggshell blue was a risky pick for a gift, but rolled the dice anyway. She doesn't just love it, she won't stop wearing it...anywhere! She gets compliments everywhere she goes, from other boarders in the liftlines to grocery-store clerks. She merrily defies the old rule that your ski/board gear is not to be worn everyday. As for function, we were in Maine last week when that monster arctic air mass descended. Didn't get above zero for three straight days and was a balmy -26 one morning (you read that right; Jan. 16th - look it up). On slope, she didn't miss a beat. Great fit (wms M was my guess and fits perfectly, with room for layers). Can't say enough good things about Special Blend stuff; great stuff with style. Very satisfied. |

Amazing Surprise

Super-discounted so I bought (stole?) this jacket (XL-Stone) as a backup. Had little expectations, but lemme tell you....I donned this jacket this past weekend for a 3-day trifecta of Vail (dumping pow), Breck (cloudy & cold) and Keystone (zero degrees by afternoon) and I don't have enough compliments for it! With a good mid-layer on, I had zero issues with cold or the snow. The fit was great (I buy 1 size up for layering and movement, but my regular size Large would've fit just fine), tons of pockets (all accessible), a snug powder skirt and the collar is a big, warm, snuggly cave when zipped up. Only complaint was the way the hood cinched up only from the back, but since 1) its removable, and 2) I just said I love it even in bitter cold and heavy snow, its not a big deal. In summary, this jacket is an absolute STEAL at the listed price...and if you catch it on WhiskeyMilitia, count your blessings and buy two. |
