An okay ski pant---good for the price 11-19-08

I'm not thrilled with these ski pants, but for the $140 they cost I'm certainly not disappointed. The fit is very good...just baggy enough to look cool, but not overly snowboarder/Tanner Hall gangster-baggy. The DWR finish didn't last that long and I found myself re-treating the pants about twice per year. If I didn't they would absorb some water and become damp, but not saturate through. The insulation kept me warm into the 30's with just shorts on underneath. My biggest complaint is that the scuff guard on the ankles doesn't even come up to the top of my ski boot---I cut the pants all up with my ski edges, and had to retire the pants after ~40 ski days. But, for a cheap pant, they're pretty good. Also, I am 5'8", 30" waist, 31" inseam and the medium fit pretty good.

Excellent Ski Pants 02-18-09

The loose cut fit allows for freedom of movement while skiing. There is no binding or riding up. These pants are extremely warm. The zipper thigh vents work great on warmer days. They are definitely very cool looking. I agree with other reviewers that they tend to run long in the leg and big in the waist. If you are in between sizes, go with the smaller one.

I've had them for two winters now..have done more snowmobiling with them than skiing/snowboarding. There awesome for everything to do with snow..snowmobiling when its -10 and who knows what the windchill was..I highly recommend buying "The North Face XTC Midweight Tight" to go with layering up with these pants, and you'll be set for anything that winter throws at you!

My 19yr old son wanted these for Christmas. 6'4, 200 lbs. Usually buys 36 inseam pants - yes! I ordered the L/Long which stated it had a 33" inseam. Perfect length.

I have been rocking the same Freedoms for 2 seasons now. I have never had a problem cutting the cuffs, but I ski slightly less than shoulder width apart, mostly Utah powder. I keep my edges sharp so if the cuff thing was going to be a problem it would be a problem with my technique, not the pants. They have kept me warm with one good base layer to -35 degrees F. I have also worn these pants in the rain, not intentional, none the less no problems ever. I have put so far close to 120 days in these pants. I'm wondering if you are talking about a completely different pant? I wear a large and I am a 33/34" waist and 34" inseam, I'm 5'8" and 180 pounds. They fit perfectly. Rock the Freedoms!

Bought the Freedom pant this past season and I have to say they are excellent! Warm enough that I only ever had to wear basketball shorts underneath, maybe light leggings on ridiculously bitter days. Zipped vents on the legs air it out on warmer days. The fit is loose and comfortable, enough to move in the park but not tight enough to be a yeti. I'm 6'0" 185lbs 32"Waist and the medium size fits with room to spare. Highly recommended!

Just got back from 6 days at A-Basin and Keystone and wore the Freedom pants the whole time skiing. I'm a 30" waist and 30" inseam and the small regular fit great. The pants are plenty warm, light and easy to move in. I highly recommend these ski pants and backcountry.com.

Insulated Pants 03-14-09

I didn't think the insulation would be as thick as it is, but nevertheless it works....these pants are great for the cold, blowing snow, wind isn't gonna let down type of days in the mountains....i typically wear them with a light baselayer or none at all and they rock...however, on the cold blustery days a midweight coupled with these pants dominates the weather...

Seems to be pretty waterproof, lots of adjustability in the waist via velcro straps, nice cuff at the bottom for ski boots. Easily covers the top of my ski boots, which some pants don't. Cargo pocket is a bonus.

Really happy with these pants. I'm 5'10" and 200 lbs. i went with the xl and they are pretty long. The larges might have been a better fit for me, but i wanted to make sure the waiste band would fit around my big ol belly. it does. with room to spare. with ski boots on there's no problem, but the heels get walked on while wearing tennis shoes to and from the slopes. Other than me not getting the right size, these are great pants. With a lightweight baselayer i haven't been cold, wet, or felt the wind. buy these. the pockets are really nice too.

Warm and comfortable. I'm 6'4", 200 lbs. and went with the XL. The length is great but a little loose in the waist, which I prefer. You've got the elastic straps and loops for a belt if you need it so no problems there. The pockets are great, plenty of space to put your stuff. I ordered all new ski wear this season and this is one of the items I'm most pleased with.

The thing I love the most is the size choice. North Face has Tall or rather Long sizes. Finally I can get a pair of ski pants that fit proper. I have two pair. One insulated and one not and I am set for the season.

I got theses pants for my husband for Christmas. He loved them but they were a bit small ( I ordered a Large and he is 6'1 and 210lbs). We returned them for an XL which fits perfect and a bit more baggy (which he likes).

Pretty nice pants. I usually wear a thin one-z underneath the pants and my butt stays pretty warm on 15 min chair lift rides in 10 degrees Fahrenheit. Gaiters are effective and have never had a problem with the pants letting in moisture under normal riding conditions. I wear 32" X 32" pants and the medium is a great fit.

These pants are very warm and a great fit. I purchased the large for my husband (6'2" and 190lbs). They have enough room to move freely while not being overly baggy. Great price!

I'm a novice skier just starting to get into it this year. That said, I don't have any other ski pants to compare these to, but I'm very happy with them. They fit great. To quote Jeffry Kahn's review they are 'just baggy enough to look cool' allowing perfect freedom of movement. The only feature that I would change would be the elastic boot liner at the ankles. I would have preferred a drawstring of some sort to cinch them up rather than the non-adjustable elastic band. I'll update after my Colorado trip this February.
