Love my New Boots   04-29-08
katie2159442 (1): rating
I just got my new boots and have worn them out twice. They are really lightweight and are comfortable. They are probably the most comfortable boots I have worn (and I wear a lot of boots because I work outside). I like them because they are comfortable, stylish, and fit well. There is plenty of room for thicker socks. They were true to size. I plan on using them a lot.

Love these boots!   07-07-08
mlsjapan100150272 (3): rating
I wore these boots all day yesterday while viewing waterfalls and hiking in the mountains in Japan. They are awesome! They supported my feet and ankles perfectly, and I didn't have any problems on pavement, wet trails, or rocks. They were 1000 times more comfortable than wearing regular running shoes, so they were worth the money. At first I wasn't sure whether to get the low-rise hikers (which look a little cuter to me), but I am so happy that I bought the mid-rise....my ankles felt much more secure while hiking. No soreness, blisters, etc. today. I will wear these again and again. This site's shipping is unbelievably fast. I live at an FPO address in Japan, and the quick shipping (not to mention FREE shipping over $50) is much appreciated. Other sites charge a fortune for shipping, and it still takes weeks to get our purchases. Thank you, BC, for such great service! I don't think it's fair to consider the 1-star review that didn't comment on the shoes but rather asked another reviewer about wearing their shoes out twice. Wearing the shoes out twice means that person has literally worn them OUTSIDE twice. I also don't think the 2-star review titled "Deceptive boot" should be considered twice since both reviews state the same opinion. It messes up the rating system when people do this. I'm giving 5 stars and would give more if I could. These boots are great.

Grand Canyon Worthy!   04-27-08
cimlach2154196 (1): rating
I took a chance on these shoes to wear into the Grand Canyon, and I'm glad I did! After a few short hikes in the foothills near my home, they broke in nicely! Our trek was a one day in and out and took 12 hours! No blisters ... very comfortable! Highly recommended.

Horrible shoe   07-25-08
michellers1044246 (2): rating
Bought these a couple years ago. Most uncomfortable shoe I've ever worn. Not even comfortable to do yard work in. Very stiff, no movement. Awful.

Great of the Box   11-12-09
lkh3342794 (0): rating
I wanted a shoe that had support and grip of a hiking boot but not the unmovable feel of a boot. This shoe was it. I hiked and climbed Big Bend in them for two day and had no problems. This was basicly right out of the box no break-in time. They have great ankel support but they fit like a running sneaker. I could feel my toes and feet so that I felt like I could grip the rocks better. I don't like regular hiking boots because they are too stiff and I can't feel my toes griping. I think I could run miles in the boots and think I had sneakers on. I am more than pleased with these shoes.

Great shoe!   09-16-09

I bought these just a week before 5 days hiking in Yosemite. Had ZERO discomfort or blisters or anything - felt like the added ankle support really helped. Love 'em!

Comfortable fit, difficult to tighten the laces   08-14-09
drkeebler (2): rating
I ordered these mid-height boots after owning a pair of North Face XCR running shoes that I loved for hiking (not running, though). I live in Appalachia, and there is almost no time of year that it's not wet, so Gore-Tex is key. The shoes fit well out of the box. I wore them all day running errands, and they were fairly comfy until the very end of the day. What I haven't been able to figure out is lacing them tight enough at the ankles so they don't slip, but not cutting off my circulation at the same time. Other hiking boots I own/have owned, had hooks for the upper laces, and these are running laces, so it's more difficult to adjust the laces to tighten them at the ankle. The shoes are lightweight, true to size, and fit well across my wide forefoot. The XCR breathes fairly well, no sweaty feet here! All in all, I really like the shoes, and I WILL tackle the lacing issue.

Love my North Face Hedgehog Mid GTX XCR   09-23-08

Very comfortable shoes - bought them for a hiking/climbing trip in the San Rafael Swell and spent 3 days wandering around the desert in them with no break-in time.

Deceptive Boot   06-30-08
whereiamno1374442 (1): rating
I broke these boots in on quite a few short hikes (under 10 mi) and they seemed worthy. As soon as I took them on a distance hike they became extremely uncomfortable and painful after 10 miles...they may be worthy of shorter wear but if you want a versatile hiking boot to meet your every need, like most people, DON'T buy these boots!

Deceptive   06-30-08
whereiamno2283567 (1): rating
I recently purchased the boots- broke them in on quite a few short hikes without problems. They don't hold true for long distance- anything over 8-9 miles they beomce extremely uncomfortable and painful. If you want a versatile boot that will go the distance I wouldn't purchase these babies.

Wow, you wore out your shoes TWICE?   06-27-08

Doesn't sound like they last very long if you just got them and have worn them out.
