| After trying out 5 different TNF fleece jackets (khumbu, pumori, impulse, denali, pamir) this is the one. I wanted something to wear October through March in Salt Lake City, sometimes as the outer layer, sometimes as a liner in a shell, and something to stand on it's own in the milder temps (45+). The khumbu was about the right warmth I was looking for, but was too thick in the shoulders/armpit area when layering, and lost a lot of it's warmth with the wind. The pumori was softer and layered better, but just wasn't quite warm enough, same problem with the wind as the Khumbu. The impluse was too thin, and the denali too thick and too warm - although a great product. The Pamir is the one, the windstopper technology allows it to be warm while remaining thinner. Was even fine on it's own in the low 40's with just a short sleeve polo underneath.
And a special thanks to backcountry.com for putting up with me buying and returning so many jackets while finding the perfect one. |

| This is my second review of this coat and I've had it for about 2 years now. The thing I'm most amazed with is that I wear it almost everyday for 8 months out of the year and it still looks brand new. Definitely a durable coat. Blocks the wind incredibly well and can even been worn in the winters in the VA mountains with a sweater underneath. Would recommend this coat to anyone looking for a cross between a fleece and a soft shell. |

| When I think of a fleece jacket I typically think of a jacket that is thick not heavy but soft and plush. This jacket is soft and slightly plush but by no means is it thick. It is very thin for a fleece and I made the mistake of wearing it in the upper 30s and froze. However, It will stop the wind...it is very good at that. I would say this jacket is a great fall piece. Definitely not a winter piece so dont buy it thinking it will work past october...and october in chicago (depending) can get windy and cold. This is for those cold late August nights thru maybe October jacket. It is around 600g so it might be considered a mid weight jacket but the insulation isnt good past 45 degrees. It has an athletic cut and wrist straps to tighten it up. It is also a gore windstopper...so it will last!! I would really rate this a 3.5 star but backcountry wont do 1/2 stars. |

| I got mine a couple weeks ago and have been using it as my main coat every since. The temps have been ranging from 30-60 degrees and this coat has kept me warm with just a T-shirt underneath. The windstopper feature of this jacket works very well, I would say it blocks at least 95% of the wind even when the winds are gusting at over 30 MPH. Get this jacket, you won't regret it! |

| Overall great jacket. I'm not a big fan of softshell like materials ( on outer sleeves and shoulders) so i would prefer all fleece jacket even though it's more durable and easier to keep clean this way. Played basketball in it yesterday on a cold, windy Baghdad day :), wearing just a t-shirt under it, and can say that breathability is very good. I'ts a pretty tight fit (I'm 6' 190 lbs, size L) so dont expect to wear a lot under it any way.
I like it. |

| This jacket seriously blocks the wind and keeps you warm. I am a huge North Face fan and I have 3 Denali jackets which I love, but they don't keep you that warm when you wear a t-shirt underneath. This windstopper however is Awesome! |

| This is a great jacket. I use it while riding my motorcycle and it does a great job of keeping the wind off. The softshell shoulders do better at keeping light rain off then a normal fleece would. |

| Great jacket for chilly days around town or on the slopes. I always wear it snowboarding with a light hoody under it and around town when its warmer than 20 degrees. It is pretty good in light rains as well, and it is completely windproof, just like they claim. There are only a few days that it is not warm warm enough by itself. Have had it for two years and is still my favorite out of my denali, apex and works amazing with my hard shell. Also have a friend who wears it on his motorcycle on spring days. Anyone looking for a light liner/ spring and fall jacket its perfect. Just needs a sweater or hoody when it gets colder out |

| I have been replacing my winter running and outdoor attire a few items at a time. I had a lot of fleece tops that were a bargin, but I know now that low price equals low features. I also have enjoyed my new Illuminite lightweight running jackets that are wind "resistant" and also bought a couple of Windstopper hats, so Lightweight and Windproof has been the theme.
This top is amazing. I'm 5'8" and usually buy a L so I can layer. Based on the reviews, I went with a Medium and it's perfect. Got to stand outside with it on in 30 degrees with a slight breeze while I threw Frisbee for the pups and was completely comfortable. The materials and construction is first rate. I have a few other North Face items, but nothing as well made as this jacket. I can see this packed along for hiking and hunting. I may need another..... |

| Windstopper has a reputation as a leading tech fabric. Its strength is lightweight, total windproof, and breathable. All this creates a garment with near perfect comfort. Now owning this jacket for some time and getting a chance to use it hard in a variety of conditions I can vogue for all of these claims. I knew windstopper was some good stuff but i was a little questionable to its Breathability since it is totally windproof. I have found out that it is in fact very breathable and does a outstanding job of keeping you warm and dry, better than any other product i have ever used. Compared to the Windwall 2 jacket this one is more fitted, totally windproof, very breathable, and has abrasion fabric on shoulders upper back and chest and down arms that is water resistant. This jacket will allow for a mid weight base layer and a 100 weight fleece layered under where the windwall 2 is quite baggy and will leave you enough room for another jacket layered under, too much room in my opinion. With all the added benefits this jacket is vastly superior to the windwall 2, especially for the price diff. My bottom line- This jacket is the bomb, get it and be in love. A true 5 star North face product. |

| Nice all around jacket. The thinner thickness of the windstopper is great - -I use it either as a mid layer with my shell in the fall or I use it as an additional underlayer under my down sweater in the very cold conditions we have here on Mount Washington. The sleeve is a little stretchy which I like. The windstopper feature is great and actually works pretty well. Recommend this one as part of the arsenal. |

| TNF fleece with windstopper!!!!!! 01-26-08 |
Anonymous:
|
| I bought a mountain hardwear fleece with windstopper a few years ago but did not like the styling as much as TNF fleeces. The Denali Fleece I have from TNF looks great but does not do anything for the wind. This new Windstopper TNF fleece combines the best of both worlds. The fit for me was just right. It fits alittle more snug than the same size on the Denali so I would not go a size smaller than you normally would that some reviewer have said previously. |

| First off, this is a very nicely put together jacket, the seem work is all nicely done, and genrally the combination of panels making up the jacket is well thought out. The first thing I noticed is that the jacket is somewhat unique in that it has a fitted cuff on the sleeves. No elastic here, which gives the jacket less of fleecy look. Also notable is that where the nylon abrasion panels are present, the fabric is reversed, so that the soft fleecy stuff is next to your skin. Otherwise the inside of the material, which is sort of mesh is not especially comfortable against the skin. Also, the collar is a good bit stiffer than on a normal fleece and stands up nicely, which adds to the jacket's appearance.
Ok, onto fit. I am 6'2", 200lbs, I wear a 44 long suit jacket, waist 36, and I wear a 17-35 shirt, and the torso of a size XL fits great. The problem with the jacket for me is that the sleeves must be 37" long. Normally, sleeve length isn't an issue for me with a fleece jacket becuase the elastic cuff keeeps the material up above my hands, but becuase this jacket has fitted cuffs, there really isn't anything you can do about it, absent rolling it back on itslef. TNF did include a velcro adjustment tab, but this is largely ornanmental, as the only thing tightening the tab does is create a rather stiff fold. The other problem with fit is that the jacket has very narrow forearms. This is actually what gives the jacket so much of a nice fitted look. However, becuase the fleeece on the top half of the sleeves is inside out, it all wants to stick to whatever you have on underneath. Actually, getting the jacket on over a shirt is a little bit of a struggle. If you are looking to where a t-shirt with the jacket, then this shouldn't be a problem. I got the jacket at a great price, so I might just keep it. If you are looking for something similar, the Windwall I, is a nice alternative, not quite as wind resistant, but more comfortable in the sleeve, and hence a bit more verstile. The weight of both jackets is nealry identical. I really can't figure out why the sleeves on this thing are so long. |

| This jacket is lightweight and windproof; perfect for a early morning run or casual day at the office. It doesn't provide much warmth if it's in the 20's... it's just right when paired with a tshirt in the 30-50 degree range. It's a little slimmer fitting than the Denali jacket which I also like. Great jacket! |

| I live on Whidbey Island WA. It's very windy here during the winter months. The jacket does a great job of keeping the wind out but it is very thin. The temperatures here range from 30*F - low 40's. The jacket stops the wind very well but lacks the insulation to keep you warm on the cooler days. It may be a good idea to get a size larger than you would regularly wear so you'll have enough room for extra layers if needed. Other than that I love it. Very attractive design and does exactly what the name says it will do. |

| Bought this when it was on sale, but left it on a train. Sucks, cause this jacket is great! I used it on the Inca Trail and it was perfect for those cool windy mountain passes. Not very thick, so won't keep you warm in under 40 degree weather without more layers, but perfect for cool windy weather. I'm sucking it up and buying another... |

| The jacket price was a little steep. It fits great with a tee shirt but a button up will bunch up in the sleeves. I have long arms and usually north face equipment doesn't fit my body type with the correct arm length but in this case I was pleasantly surprised; my arms are fully covered. The length of the coat is a little deceiving when I first tried it on I thought it was going to be to small but as I wore I came to the conclusion it's the perfect length for a t shirt. On the other hand a un tucked button up will drape out the bottom. |

| I tried on, and even ordered, a couple of other jackets trying to find one that was both warm wind resistant. Then I hit on this one. This was a winner on both fronts. Terrific on cool days/evenings (above 25 or so) and great with another layer. Looks great and with the terrific sale from this site, it was good all around. Again, can't believe the wind resistance. |

| Wind resistant as advertised! Used it fly-fishing and commuting on a mountain bike and the wind didn't stand a chance. As mentioned in the other testimonials, if the temps dip into the 30's or so, I found it was too thin to keep me adequately warm. Sleeves are a little tight to layer a thick undershirt. Overall, great jacket for combating the wind. Would purchase another if I lost it! |

| I picked this up after I owning both Denali and Pumori. I live in Chicago, but like most of the suburban world, the only daily exposure to the outdoors I get is from building to car, so a big bad parka or shell and fleece is overkill. My daily jacket ends up being the Denali throughout the winter, which gets real cold as soon as there is a light wind.
So I picked up the Pumir knowing it wasn't going to be a great insulator but I hoped for more than a typical soft shell. And that is exactly what I got. This jacket is totally windproof with the overall comfort/touch you expect from a fleece. I'd say this insulates about as well as my 200 wt Pumori but you can drive with the window down in your car and hang your elbow out at 50 mph and not experience any wind infiltration.
Also a nice plus that wasn't mentioned is that it has a DWR coating on it. The only downside I can think of is that is has a funny smell to it that is taking quite some time to wear off and since it has this beautiful DWR coating, I am hesitant to wash it and watch that fade away into the laundry. Best plus though was the killer price I paid for it on sale, 50% off!

| this is a really good jacket. i bought it for one purpose, to block the wind. on that aspect, i give it a 5 out of 5. overall, i would give it a 4 out of 5 for the following reasons:
-hand pockets should be lined with the wind proof material. instead it is lined with mesh (extremely poor at blocking wind).
-chest pocket could be bigger
-inside pockets would have been nice as well, especially since the chest pocket is kinda small.
the jacket fits great, blocks 100% of the wind, and is very light. despite the negatives, i would get this jacket again knowing all the "drawbacks". |

| I'm a hefty 5'7" 175+ pds guy (big boned). I bought a medium and it fits perfectly. I usually wear an long sleeve thermal underneath this. As long as the inner layer is not too bulky, this ought to fit well. This blocks almost all the gusty winds that are ever present in Oklahoma. In fact, I rode my motorcycle with this and a thin layer underneath. It was blowing about 15-20 mph and 65-70f degrees outside and there was absolutely no wind that came thru the jacket, even on the highway. I would recommend this to anyone wanting a light jacket for a fall or spring. |

| Great Jacket, works wonderfully, but my only complaint is the fit. I'm 5'11" 160 lbs, the jacket fits great at the top but there is too much room at the bottom, which is more of a boxy kind of fit. I pull out the cord to tighten it up but then it just looks baggy. Wish it was more fitted, but besides that its great. |

I just had to have another and this one is even better than the first one I purchased. Outside of the price ( which is a little steep)it truly does the job that a windstopper jacket should and its really a good looking jacket that I can where anywhere--hiking,a casual walk around the neighborhood or anywhere about town.Don't think twice about this jacket it really performs. | This is a great, non-bulky intermediate weight jacket. I don't live in parka country, but sometimes need more than a light weight or cheaper fleece. This jacket is perfect weight for down into the 30s as well as under windy conditions...though I haven't tried it yet for both at the same time. :-) I've always had good luck with North Face products, and this store's customer service rocks as usual. Happy & warm in central CA. |

| I got this jacket about a month ago and haven't had real chance to wear for extreme cold weather condition. Where I live doesn't get too much of cold weather but for windy and gusty days, I can definitely say this is what you're going to want. It's also 50% waterproof so you don't get too much wet when wearing this jacket. I say it's 50% waterproof because it blocks water only on your shoulders and arms. Considering this was not designed for rainy weather, I think it's the best jacket I've ever had. Wish it was a little bigger than the size shown on the tag |

| Buying this sight unseen, I was a little apprehensive, but it turned out great. This is the best pullover type jacket I have ever owned. It's not as thick as others I've had, but doesn't need to be. I've been wearing just this without a heavier jacket in 20-30 degree weather lately here in New England and haven't ever felt cold. Stops wind chill too as advertised. A little more expensive than comparables, but worth it. |

| A good friend of mine (nicknamed "Teen Wolf") highly recommended the Pamir Windstopper vs. an ordinary fleece, due entirely to the windstopping ability. He was right. With this thing on and a full sleeve shirt, I am comfortable above 30 degrees outside. The key is that this is perfect for short trips outside (car to store, car to work, etc.), because you need something to keep your warmth until you get to the destination. Also, if you are active outside (shoveling, raking) this is perfect also. Recommend it highly. This is not to be confused with a simple fleece. This is different. Thanks Teen Wolf. |

| I live in MA so the weather outside can get tough but this jacket fits the bill for either an extra layer or by itself. Very happy with this purchase. I just wish North Face had a M/L size since the arms are long but the rest of it is a little on the tight side. |

| The North Face Pamir WindStopper fleece has been great so far. I have yet to use it on the slopes, but for everyday use, I couldn't be happier. This fleece has been my staple in the infamous unpredictable climate that is characteristic of winter and early spring months of Georgia. It does a great job at keeping the wind out on my daily walk to class and is toasty to boot. Can't wait to see how it handles on the ski slopes. I'm very pleased with this fleece, especially after 4 years of putting up with wind ripping straight through my Denali fleece, and it's stylish too! |
