Do what they're supposed to.   07-07-08
Matthew Agarwala (14): rating
Pros: lightweight, pack small, cheap, waterproof. Cons: no venting system, ankle openings make it tough to put them on over top of shoes. (To be fair, I have size 13 feet - might be easier in a size 9 shoe) It'd be better if they packed into a pocket instead of the bag they come in. I've already lost the bag and wouldn't want to carry the extra weight anyway.

Crotch ripped out   09-18-08
bcwardlaw2118807 (1): rating
They were waterproof. That is about the best I can say. I wore them once and they were a bit of a slim fit but they worked but the crotch split the first time I wore them. I wasn't doing anything but walking either. Don't know if I got a bad pair or what. If it wasn't for the big hole in the crotch I would have kept them.

Slim fit   08-04-08

I am a little thick in the legs and trunk, and these pants are sized a little too thin for me to wear. I have to wear them without any layer underneath. That being said, they are excellent as far as repelling water, and have done very well when I have worn them.

lightweight and cheap   06-18-09

I rarely use rainpants but like to pack them if its cold to use for extra insulation and if it actually rains. THis means they are often carried but rarely used. These replaced some 16oz goretex pants. No durability problems yet.

Nice & light, but ZIpper broke, coating is coming off.   05-16-09
Mountain Mike 7 (0): rating
I only wore these a few times, mainly a winter hike up Freel Peak (Tahoe) around freezing. Comfortable, light, seemed to breathe OK (no condensation). Haven't tried them in the rain (worked fine in brief a shower test). But in a just a few days of use, the leg zipper broke. I sent them back for repair, and when they came back, the seam-sealing tape had pulled the inner coating away from the seam, so water can now come in. How come no one in the SD repair shop noticed that? I'm going to try another brand.

good pants for the $   03-08-09

I bought these about a year ago and I can honestly say they have kept me bone dry during some tremendous downpours. When I say tremendous I refer to flashflood type downpours, not just cats and dogs!!! The one thing bad about these pants are poor ventillation, which is why I won't give them five stars. These pants can double as a second layer for cold seasons, but even in the cold the sweat builds up while hiking. However, they do a heck of a job at blocking wind and rain so... The pants really seem like they can take a beating. Some refer to them not being that durable, but summin tells me they were trying to kid themselves on the size and have too much junk in the trunk for the size they chose. That could have easliy been remedied by exchanging for a proper size. I have bushwhacked through briar patches in Arkansas, swamps in Louisiana and mudslid through Kentucky...these pants still look like they are new and as already stated...I've never gotten wet, not even when sitting directly in pools of water. ...one thing to note on the pocket is that it is not totally waterproof...had my lighter in my rain pants once and it went out until it was able to dry out...but the smokes in my pants pocket UNDERNEATH these pants keep my smokes nice and dry while fishing in the rain!!! Don't trust the pocket, expect to build up a lil inner moisture, be honest with yourself how much room your butt truly needs and get a proper fit even if that size may make em a lil long...and these pants can keep you dry and save you some cash!!! ...on another note, the tote bag that comes with these pants are great!!! Not sure what gram counters may complain about, but as another has noted, weighs less than a single coin. Even has enough room to accomodate my Golite Virga rainshell, so I was more than pleased with the tote bag because it has a sturdy clip that you can snap on to a gear hoop on the outside of your pack!

Great Buy - Stay Dry   08-25-08
Axle-Grease (4): rating
These worked great for my trip to Alaska. I stayed dry during kayaking (even while sitting in a puddle of water), and also while hiking in the mist/rain. There's no venting so breathability isn't wonderful, but overall a great buy to stay dry.

nice and the price is hard to beat...   12-22-08

Bad stuff 1st. I won't wear these skiing, I don't think they're made well enough to take my falls, but I didn't buy them for that. They work, the price is great when on sale and they have a clean look. They stuff very small and fit my in my camera bag when not needed. I'm glad I got the XL though (36 and some these days). And, "Crotch ripped out" (the 2 star review) is not to be ignored. This hasn't happen to me with these, but, once upon a time, at Hunter Mountain NY... So, I try to keep it in mind. That being said. The XL fits rather well over my pants when the weather changes and I'm on my bike running errands in the city. One thing must be said about the pack bag - what extra weight is Matthew Agarwala talking about? The quarter in my pocket adds more weight, but ultra-lighters can be a little out there with weights and measures. I'm a photographer and ultra-light to me is a Nikon 18-200mm VR lens with shade.
