| When it comes to snowboards i usually like to consider myself very loyal to manufacturers for good products. For about a good 3 years i have been riding burton customs to custom x's thinking that was as good as it got, until one day while getting my board repaired a shop attendant told me about Rome.
At that time which was about 2-3 years ago i finally decided to give this board a try and ohh man was i not dissapointed. Currently i ride an 06 rome anthem 154 and let me tell you the buttery smooth ride that maintains stability at high speeds is outstanding considering this board is about $300.00 less than the custom x. From huge natural kickers to nasty park ramps this board can really handle the abuse and is worth every single penny.
So if its good smooth soft feel with a hint of rigid durability that you are looking for the i highly recommend the rome anthem. however the only concern you might have is the easy chipping of the sides in certain terrains, but if aesthetics is really a non-issue then go with this board i promise no disappointment. |

| This board is stiff. I disagree entirely from anyone who says otherwise. Compared to other boards I've ridden this year (the Rome Postermania, the Ride DH, the Lib Skate Banana.. bla bla) it's stiff. That means it holds an edge well but is a bit out of it's element in choppy stuff, so try to stay away or you will feel a bit beat up by the end of the day. On the bright side, it is nice to slash turns through powder with, but make sure you've gotten a long model because the float is about average, even for a directional board. As a whole, it does feel stable (none of that triple-base nonsense washing your turns out *ahem* -->battalion<--) but in my opinion stable isn't enough - I'd like to feel PLANTED. Perhaps it's the waist on the board, which is narrow enough to make riding it with size 10 or larger boots a bit of a chore. (Before you flame me out about this review, I will admit that a wide version is made that I have not ridden yet, and that would undoubtedly remedy this problem.) But in spite of the simple, tried-and-true design, I'm just not convinced. And there's another problem.
I had last year's model of the Anthem and within three months of riding, the topcoat chipped off on an area of the tail about 1" x 2" wide for no reason at all. I returned it and had it replaced with the newer model at no cost to me, which I was very pleased about. Unfortunately, almost the same thing happened on the opposite side of the tail within about 6 weeks with the new one. I was even walking through REI a few days ago and saw another Anthem returned for the same reason - and on sale for 86 bucks! This seems like a chronic problem and that, frankly, is unacceptable. Granted, it doesn't technically interfere with the board's performance, but who wants to ride around on a board that looks 5 seasons old when it's actually brand new??
I'd like to say that I rode this board and had the time of my life because I like Rome as a company, despite the fact that they never mailed me my die-cut sticker when I sent the business reply mail envelope in to them when I bought it new. However, even though I like the company and they truly do make other good boards, I wouldn't recommend this one to a friend. In fact, I prefer my Gnu Rider's choice 154.5 to my Anthem 162 in almost any condition. Imagine that. |

| This board is awesome. I didn't find it too stiff, just solid and fast as hell. It's seriously the fastest base I have ever ridden, I was flying past people on the cat tracks while others were pushing. I went rinding at Snow Summit...bleh, not much snow and it was choppy too, this board held an edge all day long. Totally stoked on ROME! |

| i received this board as a replacement for last years anthem, which delaminated on me after about 2 months. I rode this years about 7 times before the edge started separating from the top sheet, then after about 12 rides the edge behind my front foot caved in. I dont even plan on sending this piece back because i dont want another crappy replacement. |

| this board has been my go to board for 4 years now. its sturdy enough to take core shots from the shitty fall/late spring conditions and yet sinister speed base(if you take care of it). it is a stiff board. one of the stiffest on the rome line. i dont ride rails or boxes but it is definitely a jumper. hit 30-40 foot booters on this bad boy and landing was a breeze. just know that this is a directional, and it sucks not being able to land or ride switch, but on pow days and booter days this board stands alone. |

| I took this board on a demo, coming off a Burton Custom. It's pretty stiff torsionally, which results in pretty strong edge hold: you can really lay out some hard carves. It's also snappy in between the bindings and you can get some good ollies out of it. The nose and the tail feel soft and buttery, but you probably don't want to butter this board unless you have precise edge control. The board likes to be aggressive and you need energy to ride it -- if you don't pay attention, it will throw you. I think the board needs a little more dampening for choppy, cruddy stuff, but that's really my only complaint. It feels fairly light, too. |

| I was a firm believer in Burton but have moved over to Rome, I love this board. I am a all mountain rider so I went for the Anthem being a high end directional board. This board holds edges with ease and transitions rail to rail with no problem. Super fun all mountain ride. The majority of my friends ride park so I spend a lot of time there as well, This is a super poppy, very stable board. Love it! |

| love the board though I did not feel much difference between this board and my firefly board. this board is very durable, though the top sheet chips easy.
bottom line I would definitely recommend this board to a friend |

| I am not into really stiff boards anymore. It's waaaay stiff. In the pow if you go extra long, I can see it being fun. I took it out for that purpose and then the forecast did not come through so I was riding it in hard pack. It will stick with you for sure. It just was not for me. I love the agent which is way more flexy. But if stiff decks are what you are after with precision handling at high speeds you have found heaven at last. |
