| My fave jacket 11-07-08 |

| Before you read this, I need to confess that I have a strange and unnatural relationship with gear. For example, when I first saw this jacket in my favorite Crested Butte shop, the Alpineer I knew it was for me. I immediately wanted to put it on and not take it off until it was sleazy with grime and patched with duct tape. So I bought one and wore it for most of last year. I love it! I'm never cold, occasionally hot, it's tougher than I thought it was. No rips, no tears. Just many happy memories of snow, winter cycling trips to the store for beer and groceries. During the summer I found myself longing for cold days so I could bring out my old friend. I warned you it was going to get weird. |

| Great jacket to throw on without the hassle of finding the right layering system. Put a few base layers underneath this jacket and you will be toasty. As the other review states, the lack of pit zips is frustrating. Otherwise it has great features such as removable hood, high warm collar, handwarmer pockets, large stretchy cuffs to fit over large gloves, ipod pocket, large inner mesh pocket for holding skins etc. I am completely satisfied with my decision to buy this jacket. One of the best skiing jackets around for simplicity and warmth. |

| I serched high and low for a coat to ware this season. This is the one for me. It has all the warmth of a big puffy down jacket without the big puffyness. Making it a great fit for riding. No need to layer up. Just a t-shirt and the coat provides the rest of the heat! Plus it's "PATA-GUCI" so you know it's quality! |

| This jacket has become my favourite this winter! I have technical jackets that I use for more strenuous activities, but this works a a GREAT insulator for minimal to moderate activity. It is definitely windproof, but I have not tested it in temperatures below 10 F. I have worn it sitting around campsite and light night hikes, and it has exceeded my expectations. I always had a problem with sitting still and being cold, but this solved it as easy as the Pythagorean theorem! Also, Patagonia is an ethical company that invests in is future (i.e., workers and the environment), so I like supporting them. Cheers! |

| Bought this jacket to be a versitle jacket to wear when it was cold and skiing. Its been just that. Its great to wear around town because it is very warm and looks good. As for skiing it is good for those cold days, and even good on warmer days, just dont layer up. all around a great jacket, my friends love it too, good buy for a versitle, warm puff. |

| Warm jacket. Perfect for throwing in your backpack during long tours. I love to put this on under my shell after the ascent to warm back up while preparing for the ski down. I find that it's horrible to wear along when it's snowing or wet out, once the jacket gets at all wet, it will ice up.
Awesome jacket for around town when you're not in the mountains. |

| Well Made, Poor Shoulder Articualtion 02-28-09 |

| The Rubicon's construction is very good. The Thermogreen insulation does not insulated as well as other brands(Primaloft,Polarguard) per weight.
The deal breaker is the tight shoulder fit, and I have a average build. It is inexcusable for a Patagonia brand jacket . When I reach low or forward I feel the shoulders bind from the tight fit. I expect this from a cheap jacket, never Patagonia. |

| Nice Coat 03-19-08 |

| I haven't been able to put this coat to a true test yet because I got it a little late in the season. However, I have worn it a few times and it is an incredibly comfortable, warm, and lightweight jacket. It's not to bulky, so it can be worn around town, not just on the mountain. It seems to me that there are more extreme coats available for more extreme activities, but this coat suits me just fine. A very functional jacket. |

| The problem I have with this sort of jacket is: Why Ski/Ride in down unless you are SERIOUSLY cold - and I mean Canada cold. Surely the way to go is to layer up and then add/lose layers as required ?
I managed to find this jacket at the Patagonia Outlet store just outside Reno - I didn't really need it but it was a stupid bargain, so it is mine. The jacket itself is typical Patagonia: High build quality, slightly strange colour choice, pretty good detailing. I wish they would include wrist gaitors though...
Overall then: If you like HOT jackets, literally, then this is for you. You will sweat though. |

| "Relaxed Fit" - not so great 01-19-09 |

| The quality construction and numerous features are great, but if you go to Patagonia's site, you'll notice it says that this jacket has a "relaxed fit" which is a real bummer. When I found a snug fit in the shoulders, the chest and arms are so roomy that there are air pockets - not good for insulating. I bought this to replace a Cloudveil Enclosure parka but I'm going back to Cloudveil because the sizing is much better. |

| Nice Jacket 12-29-07 |

| This is a nice jacket. Was a little skeptical at first but once I tried it on its really nice. The pics here don't do it justice. Put it to the test during a freezing rain, sleet then dumping a foot of snow ski day. Jacket shed off all the elements, kept me warm and dry. Only reason I don't give it 5 stars is because it doesn't have pit zips. A minor gripe, this jacket will be worn on cold days only but would be THE ultimate jacket if it had pit zips. See if you can find it in a local shop then buy through this site though. The quality is second to none. |
