Many outdoor companies profess to support preservation of the outdoors, but Patagonia is the flag carrier of the movement. In-house programs drive environmental responsibility, while product designs incorporate the same ideals into clean, functional, purpose-built clothing. From cutting-edge technical outerwear to stylish casual summer wear, Patagonia’s quality of construction and design is seldom matched.

Terrific Jacket   11-17-07
boca juniors (13): rating
The Patagonia Men's Lightweight R4 fleece jacket is simply inimitable. This season's cooler P logo and improved zippers and fit are welcomed details. (An internal security, zippered, mesh pocket would have been a phenomenal and needed addition...). This jackets' warmth to weight ratio, compressibility, and breathability are phenomenal and unmatched. Depending where you live and your intended uses, this jacket is a great daily wear piece. The only problem I found is the sleeve length. The Medium fits me really well except that the sleeves, being too long, tend to accumulate accordion-like around the cuffs thus making one's wrists quite warm all the time... (Depending on your built, this may not be a problem for you). Shop with confidence at this website.

Great but..   01-03-08

Let me say this is the best Fleece I have ever had. Its pretty warm and soft but it fits very large and is not as warm as I was expecting. To put it in perspective I am 5 10 180ish with wide shoulders and im usually a large but it was huge on me. Oh and as for warmth. I wore it with a T-shirt and nothing else on a very cold new years weekend in NYC in January it wasn't enough. But I wore my rain jacket over and it was.

R4 Jacket   05-17-08

I bought this jacket to keep me warm at the Anzac day dawn service in Turkey in April. The pre dawn temperature dropped to around 4 degrees c and the wind blew most of the night. The R4 kept me warm all night. I recommend this jacket to anybody who may encounter similar conditions.

R4 Light in Iraq   07-08-08
joeldnewma1414150 (1): rating
I am a loyal fan of the original R4, but could never take advantage of wearing it in layers. I bought the R4 Light (black) to take on deployments to Iraq and to wear under my digital uniform during the cold, wet Iraqi winters. It fit beautifully, unzipped fully when needed and even when washed under military conditions, came out softer and even better than the first wearing. For warmth without the bulk - this is a real find!

Better than North Face   10-24-08
bne2467608 (2): rating
I wore my buddy's similar North Face jacket before buying this and found it comfortable, warm, and windproof. But after receiving mine and comparing the two, this Patagonia is by far superior. It's lighter, warmer, and a big reason in why I bought mine is that you don't see a dozen of them in a day like the North Face. Forget what reviews say about the jackets running large - I downsized to a medium and the jacket was too small. I'm 6'1" 170 and needed to send it back for a large that now fits awesome. Strongly recommended and buy with confidence from this site!

Awesome Jacket   11-18-08
single speed racer (1): rating
Length of the arms is perfect, torso is a little tight if you wear this as your main coat. Mt. Hardware runs a bit longer but this jacket is fine if you do not have a freakishly long torso. Stops wind and has nice venting if you do get a bit warm with it on. Wearing it in 23 degree weather with just a long sleeve T shirt is totally doable.

My favorite Jacket   10-13-08
Jon Atencio (12): rating
The R4 is my go to jacket, not to hot, not too cold. The wind doesn't get to your core, its not too bulky, its simple and stylish. I am very pleased with this jacket, if you are thinking about one, you will be stoked if you get one!
