Oakley Mystic Jacket - Men's
Oakley understands what it means go get out there and ride like it’s your last day on Earth. That’s why riders like Brian Lopes wear Oakley whenever they hit the trail. This isn’t gear for roadies who happen to ride mountain bikes, this is gear for die-hard freeriders and downhillers who let it hang out on every ride and need gear that can keep up.

Perfect Jacket   12-17-08
Craig Hauser (1): rating
Nothing gets through this jacket but everything comes out. I just went skiing in the rain with it and came out perfectly dry. Better than my gore-tex jacket ever was. The venting and brethabiliy is great, no sweat stuck in it. really it is worth the money. Just compare the specs and pricing to like Arc'teryx and North Face. Another good thing about it is it is sturdy, magnets instead of velcro, a great hood, great style on the mountain and it has the recco avalanche reflector. Have not had to use that yet luckily but it feels good to have it just in case. In a nutshell it is a perfect all around jacket.

Mixed Bag/Overall Great   01-26-09
Jean-Paul Riva (2): rating
First of all I am 5'10 165 LBS . I have a medium build with about a 40" inch chest. The outer material of the jacket is not the ordinary shiny nylon surface you often see on a gortex jacket but rather it has a hand that is more like cotton. Don't get me wrong, it is not cotton it just feels cloth like which is a big improvement from the usual. I think the downside to this is it probably makes the jacket a little heavier. The bright yellow color is really beautiful and clean looking. It is not over the top, its a classy yellow. For my taste the size medium was too baggy. They call it a loose fit and it is, loose beyond necessity and all the extra material is just in my way. I am going to try a small and see if that works better. As far as the features go the jacket is well equipped. Great pockets, well placed, good zippers etc. When zipped all the way up my mouth is completely covered. With the hood on there is just enough room for goggles . This keeps your face warm when the icy wind is blowing. The hood completely covers my helmet. Well done Oakley. Instead of using velcro on the main zipper cover oakley chose magnets spaced about 5" apart. I'm not convinced about the magnet thing. For one the uppermost magnets will not close when the jacket is zipped up all the way. For another thing it's important to keep and data storage devices away from the magnets and there are a bunch of them. I don't want to hassle with worrying about that kind of thing. Digital camera's, cell phones, there is even a tag on the jacket that shows a picture of a magnet and a credit card, cautioning about bringing the two into contact and wiping the data from your card. Other then that the Jacket is fantastic.

Stylish without sacrificing quality   03-04-09
Ben (1): rating
The Mystic in Blazing Yellow is the best shell I've ever used. For boarders or skiers who want a bit more style, the jacket is great! I'm 5'7", 140lbs, with a 38" chest, and the Small fits perfectly. The arms are the right length, and the jacket still has a baggy fit (but not too much so). Both shadow and blazing yellow jackets have a detailed pattern that looks kind-of like scratches from up close--the jackets are not just straight-up gray or yellow. Other than that, the jacket's description is very accurate. Complaints: The shell does not really fit my Giro Omen helmet that well. With the hood over my helmet, the jacket is pulled up and I cannot zip it up all the way without squishing my nose. It's definitely heavier than other shells, but the jacket performs well in the powder and features good breathe-ability when the vents are open. The workmanship is high quality. The yellow won't get you lost in snow, but may get you noticed by some ski bunnies. I'm looking forward to see how the matching Mystic Pants interface with this jacket, but I'll review those after they get in and I get back from Vail.

sick jacket   02-20-09

i love this jacket, im 6'4 285 and the xxl coat fits baggy and its very comfotable, just the way i like it. the only downside i would say is the hand cuffs where you put your thumb, it looks like they didnt take as much time on it as they did the rest of the coat, and the main zipper sometimes gets caught. But it is a great coat on a powder day, nothing gets in. And the vents are the best i have ever had. the pocket zippers are waterproof and easy to close with gloves on. This is probably the only jacket i will wear skiing.

Great overall   02-12-09

The Mystic Jacket from oakley is one of their top of the line pieces. I decided to put my Oakley crash jacket in the closet and pick this up. The jacket is great, awesome fit to it, great venting, tons of pockets/features and it also has recco in it. I'm about 5'9/10 and I prefer a baggy fit so this is exactly what i was looking for. It leaves me with a great amount of room, without feeling all snug and gaper'd out. Just a heads up, the jacket does not look as bright as it does in the stock pic.

wow   10-13-09

Holy balls this thing is baggy. I usually wear a Medium in burton AK clothing at 5'11" 165 pounds, I ordered a small and it still might be to big for my taste. The arm and torso length are surprisingly good at my size with the small. **Just a notice to anyone buying this, Mystic small = Burton AK Medium, roughly.** Amazing jacket I must say though. I think the material is a little thick for me, but I'm just complaining, it's really no big deal. Magnets are a great idea in my opinion, especially the magnet holding down the hood. I have yet to use the jacket for snowboarding, but I have absolutely no doubts that it would be the perfect terrible(Or good...?) weather jacket. If you can find this thing on steepandcheap like I did, you better buy it, at $150 this is about the best deal you can come across.

Sick Jacket   03-14-09

This jacket is the top of the line release from Oakley for 08-09. Bomber construction and awesome fit are the highlights. It runs a bit large- I'm 5"11 190lbs and the large is a bit big ( nice and baggy- not constricting euro fit). The shell is not 'crinkly', it's similar to a softshell, but provides the weather protection of Gore ProShell. It's a perfect resort jacket- it's a bit too bulky for touring. 5 of 5 stars.

Magnets Own Credit Cards   04-23-09

The magnets on the storm flap are strong enough to wipe your credit cards. They are also strong enough to stick to dirty cars and wipe all the dirt off the car, onto your jacket. The material could be somewhat sturdier and the DWR doesn't last too long. Otherwise, pretty sweet.

They aren't lying about the loose fit   03-02-09
Cody Gauer (8): rating
I bought the Mystic Jacket and pants both in a size small. I received them the other day in the mail. Right out of the box I was impressed with the style, color (shadow), and build quality. What really impressed me, and mainly the reason for buying the suit, was the ability to zip the snow skirt of the jacket to the pants and create a one piece suit. The systems works beautifully. However, I am sending both pieces back today. The main problem for me was the fit. I am 5'6" 150 lbs and I ordered a size small in both pieces. I anticipated a "loose" fit, but this was way to loose for me. I like the way the suit looks, I think its fantastic. However, on someone on the shorter side of life, it made me look like a 12 yr old borrowing his dads outfit. More than that, I found that due to the ill fit my motion was restricted by bunching and movement of the suit. Overall, great style and quality and it looks like it will keep the weather out, it just wasn't the proper fit for me.
