Oakley Parachute Down Jacket - Women's
Oakley understands what it means go get out there and ride like it’s your last day on Earth. That’s why riders like Brian Lopes wear Oakley whenever they hit the trail. This isn’t gear for roadies who happen to ride mountain bikes, this is gear for die-hard freeriders and downhillers who let it hang out on every ride and need gear that can keep up.

STOKED!   12-21-08

I've been looking for a quality down jacket that doesn't look like a sleeping bag FOREVER. This jacket is epic! Love that it's a longer fit, i.e. not your mom's cropped sweater look. The black jacket does not have brown leather detailing, it's black leather. Skied a few days ago in -10F and I stayed really warm...couldn't say the same about my feet...

Perfect jacket   12-23-08

I love this jacket. It fits without being too tight, and it's not too short like a lot of jackets out there. I wear it every day with everything, and yet it's a fantastic ski jacket as well. Pit zips are just the thing! I love the magnetic closure up the front too. Couldn't be happier. Also, it looks much nicer in person. The picture above is sort of weird, and also (as stated in review above) there is no brown leather detailing...it's black and is a lot better looking!

Oakley put a lot of thought into this one, but beware of magnets   02-13-09

This is the first Oakley product I've ever bought and I have to say I'm impressed - this is a really nice jacket. The coat is covered with little hang tags explaining every feature of the coat. I got the wine color and it's just a hair lighter than in the picture. I'm 5'8" and about 125 pounds and the small is a perfect fit for me - the sleeves are nice and long (even longer than normal) and the jacket falls at the bottom of my butt. (If you're petite, this jacket will be way too big for you.) Even the hood is great - it's insulated, has a nice brim, and fits perfectly over my ponytail, which most hoods never do. It even has a magnet that locks the hood against the back of the jacket when you're not wearing it. The sleeves have thin lycra wrist gaiters (they'll easily fit under your normal gloves). The jacket also has pit zips (a must), a drawcord around the bottom hem, and a zip-in powder skirt. It's also compatible with a zip-in Oakley snow pants system that I know nothing about. What's unusual about this coat is the magnetic closure over the main zipper - instead of the snaps or velcro on the outer flap that covers the zipper, this coat has magnets all the way down. They make a fun snapping sound when they come together and you don't even have to bother zippering the jacket to get it closed. One of the front pockets is a "flasher" pocket and flaps up to show an ID on the underside - this is kept down with magnets too. The coat has a tag that warns about the magnet and credit cards, so I'm a little concerned about putting my wallet in a pocket. The one feature it's lacking is a drawcord around the waist to adjust the fit. Considering it doesn't have one, it fits great, but I'd like to take about an inch out of the waist. When you put it on it pretty much looks exactly like it does in the picture in terms of shape. The pockets are a little awkward looking and awkward to put your hands in because they're not angled at all, but the sleeves are long enough to keep your hands warm without them. I haven't tested the jacket in the cold or the rain, so I can't attest to its warmth or waterproofing. As much as I like the fit of the coat, I'm still debating whether or not to keep it because 1. potentially ruining the magnetic strip on all my credit/debit cards is a big drawback and 2. I really like putting my hands in my coat pockets. This is why the coat gets 4 stars instead of 5.

This is my first Oakley outerwear purchase...and I am super impressed. I got the blazing yellow, and yes it is bright but not neon...it's perfect. I ordered a large because I'm tall and like my jackets long/bigger fitting and had to return it because the body was very baggy...the medium fits amazingly. Haven't had this on snow yet but I don't think it will let me down one bit.

Great jacket, but not for me   09-27-09

I really wanted to love this jacket and I do, just not on me. It had all the features I was looking for plus more waterproofing and breathability than other down jackets. I do thik it is a beautiful, quality jacket but unfortunately it looked very awkward on my body and I'm returning it. I got the wine color which is a brighter, slightly more pink color than pictured. The leather detailing is brown as shown. I'm 5'5", 130 lbs and usually wear a small. I also have a pretty small waist in proportion to my hips. The jacket fell just below my butt, the arms and torso were too large on me while the hip area was snug, and the pockets on the front made the whole look unflattering. This jacket will look best on girls who are busty with more narrow hips.

creature comforts galore   08-01-09

Bought this coat through my boyfriends account.... it is truly amazing!! So many pockets to stash your stuff in an organized way, long arm sleeves and overall length, 550 down fill! Definitely a great coat. It does run a little big. I'm 5'6" and 135lbs and the small is perfect. It could stand to lose a few inches in the waist... so if you're looking for something more "girly" and contoured, you may not like this coat. That said, it's not boxy and is definitely feminine, especially in the wine color, which is beautiful. Warm coat with all the features you could want? This is definitely for you!
