Excellent light boot.   10-21-08
Pat Goodman (40): rating
Super light, high performance gore-tex boot. They are pretty darn tough but I have had a few pairs start to blow out along the stiching where your foot bends - seam seeler does the trick. I have used these boots for casual hiking and full on expedition climbing in the himalaya. They are stiff enough to strap crampons to for glacier travel and easier snow/ice pitches and soft enough to climb better than any boot in their class - for sure! The gtx sock inside stays dry as long as you are not getting into deap snow - wear gaiters in the heavy rain/snow and you will stay dry. I had a buddy who complained about them rubbing his achilles tendon...maybe a bit on the narrow side. I say super good value!

Great boot, bad foot   09-16-08

The boots fit my feet great and the support was exactly what I wanted for my type of hiking (A day or 2, rocky terrain, 20lb pack). Issue was with my particular ankle. Hot spot on my tendon. My problem, not the boot.

many many good things   06-30-08

Rugged and light, rubber's sticky and durable. Good for edging and overall great support, only thing is I have slightly wider feet and these are built pretty narrow. But great product.

Stellar Boot   07-18-09
Wasatch Junky (7): rating
Needed to replace some lowly gore-tex Nikes and these so far and away exceed my expectations. Some key elements: amazing comfort, super stable, good looks, lightweight. Cons: none so far. Amazing deal on an fantastic boot.

Stellar Boot   06-11-09

Fantastic support, super comfortable. Haven't had them long enough to ascertain durability, but they are very thoughtfully constructed and incredibly comfortable. Really like the rigidity in the heel and stability without sacrificing comfort. Toe cap is rigid.. smart! Montrail's lace-to-toe design is great. Good stuff... highly recommended.

Reeks of solvent   06-05-09
chemosabe (12): rating
what is it with montrail? their products always have a powerful odor of plasticizer solvents to them. i wanted to like these since they were very inexpensive on steap/cheap. the sole is very grippy, and they have a gor-tex liner. you can snug them up nicely too. they felt pretty comfortable to lace up but walking in them wasn't natural for my feet. and they dodn't win any style points- kind of clunky. so they're going back....

Good fit, needs more tread   06-02-09
ajgear (1): rating
Just got these. Hiked a few shorter (<1 mile), steep slope mostly covered with grass and rock with some loose gravel. The shoes fit great, and are very supportive, but the tread depth could be better. In the grass, the shoes tended to slip since the treads weren't deep enough to get to the ground below. Same in the loose gravel. They were great on rocks with super grippy rubber. I would recommend them for trails of moderate pitch or with a lot of exposed rock. If you're going to be going up anything steep with loose gravel or grass, try something with a deeper lug.

Wanted to like   04-16-09
Zak Brown (11): rating
I really wanted to like these - they seemed like a perfect weight and the grippy rubber was a bonus. The hard toe box killed me when descending though, so I returned them. Maybe just a fit issue, I don't know....
