| After ordering the size 11 ( usually a size 10 ) because of the reviews saying the boots ran small and finding them to be too big, I returned them for a size 10 which fit just right. So , I would consider these boots run true to size.
I bought these boots because my feet tend to overheat when hiking and these look to have plenty of mesh then another fine mesh on top to keep sand, etc out. I am yet to test them out, but they seem to fit my foot well - narrow heel and ankle but wider in the forefoot. |

| Montrail Namche - comfy support 06-16-08 |

| I got the Montrail Namche for hiking/scrambling in the southern Utah desert. The shoe is well-ventilated, perfect for a hot desert environment. It's also very supportive, but comfortable like a running shoe. It runs 1/2 size small, so order 1/2 size larger than normal. It's also a bit narrow, which I LOVE since I have narrow feet. A good hiker for warm, dry conditions that offers all-day comfort. |

| These are good shoes. I like the ankle support for rough terrain and the sole has lots of traction. The fit is okay; they are a bit snug; I wouldn't try to do more than 5 miles in them. |

| I just got home from hiking the Inka trail to Machu Picchu and up to Wayna Picchu in these boots. They were completely worth the investment!! Even though Montrail does not advertise these shoes to be waterproof, it was pouring rain for the entire trek and my entire body was soaked (even my waterproof jacket) but my feet never felt a drop. I came home from Machu Picchu with no blisters or soreness at all. I am completely satisfied with this brand and this shoe.
I ordered a half size bigger, because of all the recommendations to do so on this site, and I think it would have been ok if I had not because they are maybe a bit bigger than necessary, but still work fine. Just saying. |

| Namche - blister-free support 08-18-08 |
Erica Carley
(39):
|
| My past experiences with hiking boots have gone like this: buy, hike, blister, hike, blister, hike, blister, get frustrated and go back to hiking in sneakers. I had almost given up when the Montrail rep suggested I try these. My first big hike with them was a 2-day trek in southern Utah. I covered my heels in moleskin but was still shocked when, 17 miles later I had only the tiniest of blisters. Since then they have broken in quite nicely. The Namche provides plenty of support for hiking with a 20-30lb pack but doesn't feel like a straitjacket for your foot. If you hate traditional hiking boots, the Namches are for you. |

| These hiking shoes run small. I wear a 7.5 in a regular shoe and an 8 in running/hiking shoes--but I am returning the 8 and will try an 8.5 (thanks for making exchanges easy!). I hope they fit because I've had good luck with Montrails (Hard Rock) previously! |

| I bought these for my wife and she commented that these were very sturdy hiking shoes and that she preferred them to her all leather hiking boots. My wife like the comfort and support offered by these. She also said the grip of the sole was awesome. Follow the advice offered by other reviews and upsize your order by a 1/2 size. Great price for a great shoe. |

| These are great shoes! I didn't pay attention to the review saying that they run small, though, so I did have to send them back and go up a half a size. Once I got them back, though, they got me down the Grand Canyon and back up again! |

| I didn't like them. They looked weird, felt weird. I have small narrow feet and they were tight. it took forever to get them off and on! i sent them back. |

| Very very fast delivery of my new hiking boots, but I hadto excahange for a half size larger. There was no problem in that. I bought these to trek through the Daintree Rainforest so needed a shoe that would protect my feet and give support without being too hot. Beautiful fit and most comfortable! |

| light weight boot with great support 03-15-09 |

| This boot is ideal: nearly weightless, with all the firm ankle support my flat arches need (boot does need arch support inserts). They take a little work getting into and out of but that's a decent trade for ankle support. Built like a running shoe which means they are not near water-proof but I've walked thru some serious mud and unless I put my foot in running water, my feet stay dry. Comfortable, wearable, solid boots, solid purchase! |

| Run really small. I normally wear a size 8.5, and the size 10's feel a little tight. They're kinda stiff, and the arch supports hit me in the wrong place. They are mesh on the sides and ANY water/mud gets in. Desert weeds/grasses seem to poke through easily. Only good for the hot, dry summer. |

| I do agree with bakerdog--they're kind of difficult to get on and off. Otherwise though, great shoes! They offer the ankle support I need but are still light and comfy--I am not a fan of huge heavy boots but trail runners are little insufficient so these were a good compromise. Have only taken them on a few dayhikes and around town but my feet have stayed happy so far! |

| Namche is a great shoe if you work on your feet, or a good mellow hiking boot. Comfy, cushy underfoot, but still rigid enough to support. Hold onto your vanity re size... I'm a 6 1/2 or 7 boot and I had to get these in 8(!!)because of the short toe box--they run wide and short.
Biggest minus is the thin trail runner outsole-- showing signs of wear in a mere 3 miles of hiking, and not the greatest traction if you're used to Vibram. These will be good for work, and at the price, a great deal!

| great fit for narrow foot folks 09-22-08 |

| I moved here from Thailand, and have very narrow feet (double A). This brand is one of few that fit me well. It does seem to run 1/2 size small. A friend has a normal width foot (but not wide!), and this boot also fits her.
My husband is American, and is a retired National Park Ranger with narrow feet (B). He has 4 pairs of Montrail shoes/boots which he loves. He wore one pair all over Thailand, Indonesia, Burma, Cambodia, and Laos during the 1 1/2 years he lived here. As an outdoor professional, he likes a snug fit and this brand has that.
We are both happy with the fit and quality construction of Montrail boots. OK, this sounds like an ad, but the fit was very difficult for us until we found this brand.

| These boots are comfortable--once I got them on! Loosening the laces at the top is way too much trouble. Too bad there aren't hooks at the top of the boots; that would make it much easier to take them off and put them on. So, I've returned them. |
