Since the early 1920s, Millet has outfitted hardcore hikers, climbers, and mountaineers who venture far into the Alps, Himalaya and beyond. Only recently did Millet—which is based in France—come to our side of the Atlantic, and we’re one of the few places you can find this premium outdoor brand. Millet jackets bust old man winter in the chops, while Millet backpacks have been a staple in the highlands since the company’s inception.

Noisy and big 02-24-10

This is a very large cut noisy jacket. I was looking for a Goretex jacket and heard good things about Millet. The second I put it on, i quickly removed it simply because it was very stiff and had the accompanying noise factor. I can only think that the irritation / noise would outweigh the fact that it seems like a very well made, weatherproof jacket.

Mostly What I Expected 02-10-10

I ended up returning this because I went for a softshell instead, so I can't give it a performance rating. However, I will say that it did seem to be of decent quality, and the fit was well proportioned for a shell. I usually wear a Small in jackets, so I bought a Medium to layer - not necessary! The Medium was quite large, and I could fit any other coat I own underneath with plenty of room. It was long enough to cover my butt, and the sleeves covered my wrists even when my arms were over my head. Also, the Black jacket actually has dark silver on the shoulders and along the pocket zippers, not the monotone fabric in this picture. I think it lookes better than all black though, so I wasn't disappointed. My only complaint was the gap in the velcro on the wrists - it happened to be exactly where I wanted to adhere the flap in order to tighten the wrist opening. It's kind of an odd design choice.

Awesome waterproof jacket 04-20-09

I've used this jacked mostly for backpacking in the pacific northwest, and it's worked great so far. Totally keeps me dry without making me clammy, and the reinforced patches on the shoulder stand up to my pack. Haven't had it TOO long though, so can't really comment on durability yet.

Millet fails 02-10-09
Katie Brady (1): rating
I paid $500 for a Millet Jacket and after 1 year of using the jacket for snowboarding only it had small holes in it throughout. I sent it back for repairs and the company just flat out refused to fix it or honor the warranty. I was treated rudely and the company failed all expectations.
