Marmot Monarch Divide Softshell Jacket 03-05-09

I'm looking forward to using this jacket for ski touring, hiking, and wearing about. I would call this a fairly light-weight softshell. It has a nice, soft brushed feel on the inside, and a bit of fleecy lining around the collar and a few other sections. I think it will breathe really well (and I will have to comment again after I've used it some). The Rainwater/Celestial Blue color is brighter and has a hint more of a teal colored tone in both colors than the picture. I agree with the other reviewers who say this jacket is a bit on the small side. I bought this in a medium and it is more fitted than my other medium Marmot jackets (Precip and a synthetic jacket/sweater). I'm 5'5" and about 130lbs. and think this will be perfect for wearing over a baselayer or a baselayer and midweight midlayer. The sleeves are just barely long enough for me, but my experience with clothing in general makes me think I may have longer than average arms. This jacket is a nice length and is longer than some of the other Marmot softshells, many of which I find are just a bit too short. I didn't find the bottom of the jacket to be tight like one of the other reviewers, and it does flare out at the waist a bit. I would certainly recommend this jacket, and if your normal Marmot size doesn't fit you with a bit of extra room, perhaps go up a size.

I love this coat! I am 5'4" 125 and a medium is perfect(enough room to wear layers underneath but not to bulky). The color wasabi is very nice also. And the coat is very warm...only warn it around town soo far but I cant wait to see how it is on the mountain

Great jacket, great features, but what's the deal with the neck being so big around? It's like a hood scoop on a hot rod. You could fit a scarf wrapped three times around inside. It's going back. Why can't mountainhardwear make a women's slim fit version of the windstopper tech jacket?

Been looking for a softshell jacket for winter sports and when this Marmot jacket came on sale, I had to buy it. The Meadow/Peridot is a lively green, just as pretty as I expected. I got the Medium and it feels true to size compared to other similar brands. Not too tight or baggy and it allows layering. Be aware that sleeves are on the long side (5'3''). Can't tell about it being warm or not, waiting on ski season to start.

I had been waiting in eager anticipation for this jacket, and when it finally got here, I was not disappointed! I am pretty fit (5'6.5", 130-135pnds, with a size B bra), and I was worried about whether I should get the large or not (considering some other reviews) but i'm glad I didn't - it would have been too big for me. The one thing I would say is that the wasabi colour of the wasabi/chive duo is indeed brighter than in the picture. but not flamboyantly so, and certainly not enough to keep me from showing off the jacket as much as possible :)

I have been looking for the perfect softshell for months and have finally found it!! I needed a mid-weight jacket for hiking and camping that would keep out the NW wet and be good for sitting by a campfire. As stated above, this jacket is deliciously soft on the inside without being too thick and is movable and functional. I am 5'6", 140lbs, and D chest and got this jacket in a large. It fits in all the right places without pulling across my chest or being too baggy in the waist. The sleeves are a bit long, but I like to be able to tuck my hands in them anyway! The one thing I would say about this jacket is that I ordered it in the Wasabi/chive color and it was brighter than the picture, almost colored like the other green option. I love this jacket and can't wait to brake it in!

It is lovely, but it didn't fit. Tight in waist. Unless you are in tip top shape, order a size bigger.

| This jacket is fantastic, I've spent seriously years trying to find a cute, warm, Softshell jacket that fits! I'm 5'8'' so arm length is tricky, I ordered the large. The sleeves are a little long, (like hit my knuckles) but its perfect for me. The length in back is also perfect, long enough so it doesn't ride up.
Though, this jacket doesn't brag its "warmness" it gave me a false sense of warmth. I didn't know how cold it really was, until I got frost nip on my face!
Cute, warm... Fantastic. |

I am a typical large in all tops, but this jacket was skin tight over a t-shirt and had to be returned. Very cool and super soft material, just order a size up.
