I agree that the Exum Ridge is a great shoe for a narrow foot. It is also a pretty stiff shoe, with a grippy sole that works well on rock and loose dirt. I got a half size bigger than normal and love the fit.

I read the reviews with interest, especially the comments made about how much the shoes could be tightened for narrow feet, as mine is a AAA with a AAAAA heel. Add misery to insult, I wear a size 10, so shoes this long usually are uber wider and thus totally don't fit my foot. Salt in the wound, I then order a 1/2 size bigger for those long days on the National Park trails on St John. I put them on and laced them up and probably for the first time in MY LIFE, these fit both my foot and my heel, with ample room to pull tighter if need be! I also realized another benny- the tongue and ankle area is more padded than any other runner I've ever owned, making it instantly more cushy all around. And even with the extra 1/2 size on an already long shoe, they don't look like Bozo's shoes! I smile reading the comment above re: for wide feet, as I'm glowing about how well they fit a long, very narrow foot as well. This company REALLY took in all considerations of a woman's foot when designing these. Happy, Happy!

I was out on an 18-hour adventure climb when these shoes were delivered to my door.I tried these on right away -- swollen and blistered feet and all -- and immediately fell in love with them. I wish I had had these for my climb! The soles are really stiff, which is great for talus slogging and rocky trails. I love that there's climbing rubber on the bottom and on the sides, which helps to grip rocky terrains easily. I tested them out on some rocky and sandy dirt hills and I like the roomy toe box -- perfect for those with wide feet, and the fact that the heels were kept snug and secure. No slip and slide. The climber shoe lacing allows me to fit my shoe where it's snug and not. Note: I ordered about 1.5 size bigger than my street shoes as climbing shoes tend to run small.

I bought this shoe to hike the slick rock of Southwestern Utah and they did exactly what they were supposed to do! They grip the rock so you don't slide; they even help on loose gravel! You walk with more confidence and can enjoy the scenery more! Best purchase I ever made!

This is my favorite hiking shoe. It is ultra lightweight. It comes in great colors. I've climbed up to 5.10d in the flexible, sticky rubbered shoe. A must have if you're trying to move fast in the mountains.

I ordered this shoe especially to hike 'The Wave' near Kanab, UT. It was recommended because of the sandy and less than flat terrain. Perfect shoe for this hike and plenty of others. I even ordered a second backup pair! Highly recommended. It has little suction cups for extra hold!

| I really like them, not the best shoe for running, i don't know why la sportiva has marketed them that way, but as an approach shoe and hiking shoe they are amazing! The traction will wear out fast, but so will your five.tens, evolvs, and madrock approach shoes - thats just the way it is. But the quality is really good, my husband has a pair of these and they are complete trashed but he still wears them canyoneering and on 15 miles death marches through escalante and zion national park!
P.s. i love the heel which allows you to catch aiders and etriers
P.S. I LOVE THE HEEL WHICH ALLOWS YOU TO CATCH AIDERS AND ETRIERS |

conibear trap proof 11-13-07
Conibear jogger

I tried these shoes because I run most of my miles on gravel roads or Iowa trails. Last week I skipped my run and went for a walk through a recently picked corn field surrounded by timber. Unfortunately this led me straight into a conibear trap. Dang! It was a bit painful and I was not able to remove the trap myself so had to walk back to the road where a kind man removed the trap from my foot. These shoes were tough enough to prevent any broken bones. I just ended up with a fat bruised foot and am able to run without a problem this week. Great shoes, for jogging on gravel, walking through corn fields or trapping.

1st pair of La Sportiva's. I will definitely consider more from this brand. I found the European sizing to be more accurate than the US sizing.
