| These may even be more comfortable than the sandals! I was excited to find out that Chaco was going to start making shoes again, and even more excited when I picked up a pair of these. They fit great right out of the box, even for my large, wide, and high-volume feet. They breathe well, grip well, and look good. These are my new everyday summer shoe. I wish they had slightly more padding/shock absorption, but they are great light hikers and everyday shoes. Would buy again and again! |

| Great shoe for water and slickrock 05-27-09 |

| I just used this shoe as my primary footgear on a 5 day backpacking trip in Coyote Gulch, Grand Staircase Escalante NM/Glen Canyon Recreation Area. Most of the hiking was in water, much of the out of stream hiking was on slickrock. The mesh upper worked very well for the in-stream hiking, shedding water out of the shoe quickly. The sole of the shoe provided sure-footing on slickrock. The sole pattern and soft rubber gripped well on even the steepest parts. I used my own inserts, but those that came with the shoe probably would have worked well, too. |

| I have thoroughly enjoyed these shoes so far. I bought them to use in a walking tour around a few European cities this summer, and they were great. In fact, the one day I didn't wear them my feet felt all out of whack. Can't wait to take them off-roading for a real test. As is, I'm definitely satisified. |

| Having battered my beloved Z1 sandals for over six years, I was expecting an equally rugged and supportive shoe from Chaco - these disappointed. First, no Vibram sole - the sole of these shoes are softer than my old sneakers. Pitiful. Second, the toe box is naturally sloped upward, which made me feel like my toes were pointed up when standing flat. This seemed to put undo pressure on my arch, which was thrust upward by the burley arch support (which I normally like, though not in this case). After swapping these out I bought my second pair of La Sportiva Ridge Pros and am happy. |

| I love Chaco Redrock shoes for women, so I purchased these for my husband. He didn't like them and said they were uncomfortable and there was no cushion under the ball of the foot, so I returned them. I don't think there's any difference in the womens and mens versions of this shoe, but since I can't feel his comfort level, I'll give it 4 stars. But I can tell you the women's shoe rocks. |

| Think of these as a mix between trail runners and hiking shoes. They aren't really trail runners, but fit like them, and they aren't really hiking shoes, but, can be used for that. They are crazy comfortable - I have a high arch, and these fit me extremely well. They breathe very well - as they are almost completely mesh. The insole is very high quality and is comfortable - also fights shoe stink. These are fairly light. I traveled all over India with these, and they didn't disappoint. Again, these aren't hard-core hiking shoes, but you can certainly hike in them - and your feet will thank you. |

| These are great shoes! My first pair of Chacos and I love them. The arch is great support since i have flat feet; more so than most shoes. Very comfortable right out of the box and great grips on the rocks. Either people hate or love the look...i love it, kind of retro.
I bought them to keep my feet comfortable, dry, and cool during the summer festival season, but they have already become my go-so shoe! |

| I've read the posts about the Chaco Redrock. I was skeptical at first, myself. A few years ago, I TRIED to wear one of Chaco's sandals, and thought the arch support was "too much." So, I went with another brand. But, with PROPER foot analysis, (finally), it was determined that I not only had an average arch, but on the high-end of average. And all these years I thought I had "flat feet."
So, I tried a pair of the Chaco Redrocks on. NEVER felt so much comfort. The arch support goes across the entire arch. I never knew how much comfort I was missing.
About the Redrock's use. I bought them as a casual shoe, that can be used for "light hiking" Here is what is said above about this shoe: "...Chaco designed the Redrock as an athletic sneaker, offering the outdoor enthusiast a rugged high performance shoe with a comfortable fit." Obviously, it was NEVER intended for trail running, hard use, and particularly not for backpacking.
If those are your desired uses, you need to look at other options. But, if you are looking for a cool, comfortable, and stylish shoe for kicking around town; you cannot beat the Redrock.
Oh, and I now also swear by Superfeet "Orange" insoles for all my athletic shoes. |

| If you want a proper hiking shoe, this is definitely not it. This chaco's sole is far too soft and is a light-hiking shoe where the terrain is smooth. It offers no protection from the ground below. So if there are rocks and other sharp objects below, it will hurt the foot.
Not a bad casual shoe for around town. The solves are soft and comfortable for walking around. If you are interested in hiking, there are tonnes of better options at less cost. I moved on from this shoe after about 200 miles.

| Initially I was thrilled and happy to be wearing Chaco during the wintertime. The shoes felt like the sandals but are sadly becoming a little less "super" the more I wear them.
While the sole is comfortable in the Chaco-molded way, it is hard. I've noticed some minor ankle and shin pain after a long day (I work at a museum and walk a LOT).
My feet aren't incredibly wide, but I've noticed the toe box is a little narrow. I wear a size 10.5 shoe normally, but for some reason a 9 in their Z2 sandal; I decided to get a 10 in this shoe. The length is good but the sides of the toe box rub a bit on both my big and small toes.
Overall, Chaco quality but I don't know if this is a shoe to wear for a full day. Well made, but a bit lacking in the comfort department the more I wear them. They've also started creaking when I walk. Possibly the shoelaces since they're some type of weird helicopter-cord material. But a bit annoying. |

| At first I really liked this shoe, but after wearing them for an extended period of time, the higher arch was painful to me. If you have a high arch, then this is the shoe for you. For a normal arch though, look elsewhere! |

| I put about 300 miles on my redrock shoes before giving them up for some legit trekking boots for long trips and trail runners for short trips. Further more, these are not water proof which I ignored while purchasing.
Plusesarch support out there. This shoe is only for very light short hikes on smooth terrain. Also great for walking around/street. Feet remain cool with the mesh construction.
Cons:
Sole is too soft and gets softer with time. If the ground below is rocky then the sole deforms too much and hurts the foot.
Unsuitable for backpacking. If you are going to carry a pack on your back and head out, there is zero sole rigidity. |

| I have had two pairs of Chaco sandals and never really thought twice about getting a pair of their hiking shoes until i saw them at a steal price here on backcountry outlet and now I don't think I will ever buy another brand. These shoes hold up to the same durability as my ZX/2 sandals without ever giving a hickup. The insoles were a bit thin, especially for someone who is over 200lbs and has a little more weight on them but it's nothing doctor shoals can't fix. All around great purchase! |

| I really love there sandals, but was a bit disappointed with these.
The foot bed is quite hard and not as comfortable as other shoes like Patagonia and Keen.
Overall, the quality is very good.
Just a pity about the feel. |

| I bought these last summer, and initially liked them, and without giving them too much of a torture test, decided they were comfortable, even though I wished there was slightly more padding/support. The padding/support issue became a much bigger deal after a few weeks of break in time. It became apparent that these were strictly casual shoes, and that they weren't designed for you to spend all day hiking in. They have only marginally more support than my Vibram Five fingers shoe (not much more than a thin rubber sole if you're not familiar). I've kept them around in part because I can't throw away a perfectly good shoe, and in part because they're a pretty good car camping kick around shoe, almost moccasin-like. I tried to make these work, I even put some Superfeet insoles in them to up the level of support a little bit, but it still didn't cut it. Hopefully Chaco comes to their sense this year and puts out a burly shoe with a sole worthy of the Chaco name. |

| I bought these for my husband for Christmas, and was unsure how they would fit after I read the reviews. They only had his regular shoe size in this color, so I gave it a shot. He wore them around the house the day after Christmas with the tags still on, and by the afternoon, the tags were off and he was loving them! He told me not to compare the shoe with the sandal, because the padding is way different! He wears them daily (unless there is too much snow on the ground), and prefers them over the hiking shoe he used to wear everyday! |

| So I just got these shoes today, and...well what a let down. I wear a 10W in Chaco sandals, and I'm one of those crazy folks who wears them everywhere and always (hey thats why they made goretex over socks right!) But when it came to these shoes I ordered my normal 10.5 shoe size, and talk about not true to size, my toes were crammed into the toebox they were so small. As for the ergonomic foot bed I've come to love...well it seems about a 1/2" too far back and is quite uncomfortable. If you wear a 10-10.5, I'd be safe and go with an 11 in these. Unfortunately mine are getting shipped back tomorrow! |

| I agree- these shoes fit like the sandals. They're lightweight and extremely comfortable. I wear a 10 Chaco Z/2 and a 10 in Redrock as well. Dry fast and even keep my feet dry in wet grass despite the quick dry material. Go for it! |

| I am also sending these back. My 10.5 was tight on the instep and no toe room. These are nothing like their Canyonland trail shoe that fit me like a glove. Do not know if 11's will work, it's back to Keen for me. |
