I have been a diehard Reef flip-flop fan for years, but I needed something with a back strap to make keeping up with my two-year-old easier. I love these sandals! They are very comfortable and provide excellent arch and heel support. Well worth the money!

I love my Chaco sandals! I have always been a fan of Chaco because they are so comfortable and they last so long. I use my sandals all summer long to walk the dog in the woods, trek through streams, and for walking around town. If you’re trying to decide don't, just get them!

| Love love love Chacos. It took me a while to really get used to the toe strap idea. But the toe strap really offers extra support when using these for hiking. I have had to boulder up faces in these to get to the routes I am climbing. The rubber on these have not failed me or gotten me hurt. When hiking out of climbing areas, the rubber is super sticky on rocks, and crossing rivers they grip the rocks also. Great shoe and they give you the best tan lines EVER!
Sizing:
I wear a size 7 1/2-8 in most shoes.
These I wear a size 8 |

Wonderful Craftsmanship and Quality BUT the Sandal is Always Adjusting! 07-31-07

I bought the Bluebell color and was pleasantly surprised by the color, craftsmanship and unique quality of the straps and footbed. Truly unique and unlike any sandal/shoe. However when I first adjusted the straps, I thought I would be set but I was sadly mistaken. This sandal I would say isn't really made for people with "high insteps/high arches" as there isn't really isn't enough material for the strap to cover the foot. The toe becomes strangulated then; with red marks and feels like it's cutting in. It's awful for the first 2-3 weeks of possession of the sandal but the material does eventually accommodate to your foot but when it's hot & humid and the feet swell there isn't much room to spare. ZX/1 is better fit if you don't like the toe option as it strangulates it a bit if you have a bit of a wider foot or higher instep/arch. Overall, I love the shoe but it took a long time for the shoe to adjust and I debated on returning. Just hold out and the shoe will accommodate to you eventually. I hope this helps!

My Big Toe Can't Breathe! 07-19-07

The soles are grippy, the straps are adjustable, the bed is comfortable, sweat isn't a problem because it's all fresh air, and they do well on land and sea, but after weeks of walking in England and Spain, it seems like I adjust, and then readjust, and readjust all of the time to keep the straps from strangling my big toe!!! The poor toesies keep turning red. Maybe next time i'll get the ZX/1!

Disclaimer: I'm a bit of a Chaco junkie, with this being one of six pair I own. The ZX/2, like all the other styles, requires no break-in period. It's comfy right from the start. They're great to hike and paddle in and always look good. I love the new two-strap style!

I love these shoes! Currently training for a half marathon and love to slip into the chacos after a run. Hike in them all the time and can wear them with jeans, shorts and skirts. Definitely understand how the straps work, the box comes with great instructions on how to use them. I love these shoes, great support in walking. Shipped extremely fast, figured I would be waiting for awhile, came only a few days after I ordered.

They are mighty comfy. I am usually a 7 and was a 7 in these so the size was dead on. The double strapness was a little difficult to fit and i had to play around with it for a while to get it where i wanted. But i can definitely walk in them for hours on end;)

I forgot to mention, size down a whole size for sure when ordering these shoes. I wear a 9 and got an 8 and they are perfect. If your feet are at all wide, you will def. need to order a wide pair.

I tried these on in the store and found that some pairs of these shoes are very stiff, which makes it very difficult to adjust the straps. Luckily, the pair that I received from Backcountry did not have this problem and they were very easy to adjust. Once you have them just right, they pretty much stay that way and you don't have to keep readjusting them, as other reviewers seem to say that you do. I am very happy with these sandals and personally I would highly recommend them for walking around town, doing yard work, river adventures, etc. Super comfortable and a great price right now. Also, the double straps are much more attractive and feminine than the single strap.

Like the previous poster, I LOVE these shoes. They look great, and because of Chaco's adjustable straps, the fit is perfect no matter what your foot shape. I shopped around for 2 weeks before I found them at this price. I really hated to spend the full $95 price, and I'm really not sure they are worth all that. But they are definitely worth the sale price. Excellent shoes!

I ordered the shoes to go to Bear Lake, UT. They were wonderful! In the water, boat, dirt, hiking, biking all of it. However I was not happy to see the next week they went on sale from $95.00 to $66.00, I would have ordered a 2nd pair however my money was spent on just one pair. Love the shoes, hate the price!

It took me awhile to get the adjustment right (OK I did not read the directions right away). Once I got them adjusted they were great and I love them. I wanted a sturdy travel sandal that looked ok in a city (Barcelona) but were stong enough for hiking in Greece. These are perfect and I wear them all over now.

Are they useful when cliff jumping? 08-07-08

Yes! I bought these shoes with the intent of their being VERY versatile. I've used them, and loved them, for playing ultimate frisbee, as well as for climbing on wet rocks, without fear of losing my footing, after jumping off a cliff into a lake. They also dried really quickly, which is a big plus. One last bonus is that they leave really cool tan lines on your feet. If you leave the straps loose enough you can get them on and off pretty quickly and they are really comfortable to wear a little on the looser side.

This shoe is great. I work at a lake and I'm on my feet all day and these shoes are great for me. Very comfortable with excellent support. I wouldn't recommend these shoes for boat shoes because the tread is slightly slippery. Overall, it's a great shoe and I totally recommend them!

These sandals were great to hike in. and they look good too. My only advice is to make sure those straps fit snugly to prevent your foot from sliding around too much, especially going down hill. i made that mistake and got some not so fun blisters on my arches.

I LOVE chacos. This is the third pair I have purchased. They are so comfortable I could sleep in them, run a marathon in them or simply lounge around and look cute in them! Awesome shoe! Can't ever seem to figure out what size I am though. The back strap gets me a little twisted. Do I go smaller?

this chaco sandal is just wonderful. i see that many have complained about the straps, but i think that's because a lot of people aren't aware of how to adjust them. you have to take some time to get these right from the get go, but once you do that, you're all set! the arch support on these is great for me, and i find them really stable for various sporting endeavors. plus, the style is perfect for me. i think the straps on this model are more feminine and pretty than some of the other chaco offerings--especially on my larger size feet. as for sizing, i am an 8.5-9 in street shoes, and i ordered a 9. i would say my feet are a little on the narrow side.

I ordered the Chaco Unaweep sandal from this site over the phone, and the service was fast and pleasant....and free shipping! I like these sandals, but I have to admit I don't feel much difference in them compared to my Merrell Python sandals. In fact, it takes a little longer to get into them because of the toe loop and the surface of the footbed is a little rougher than the Python. The sole on the Chaco looks thicker than the sole on the Merrell, but it feels the same to me. The Unaweep definitely looks prettier though. I like the split straps and it isn't so "duck footed" on the front. I've heard from other wearers they really do last forever.

Every sales person I met really pushed the Chacos. I tried on several pairs. I liked the color of these so I ordered them. The bottom line is Chacos take longer to put on than Tevas (important when chasing a toddler). Chacos are much heavier than Tevas. The Chaco interior foot bed is much rougher than Tevas. I was looking for a pair of sandals to replace the Tevas I've had for 4 years (and worn almost every day). I've worn Tevas since 1991. The local outdoor store owner that I finally purchased my new Tevas from was impressed with how they had lasted for 4 years. She too pushed the Chaco (what sort of commission are they offering?) but agreed that the Teva is more comfortable, less heavy, and faster (and LESS EXPENSIVE). I'm very happy with my new Tevas (the Terra-Fi 2) and I'll be returning the Chacos.
