| The Wool insulates and breathes while the zip dumps heat. This piece never gets smelly or irritable against your skin. It works well with a Rime or R1 pullover and still allows for the zip to function. Thumbholes are choice, as is the subdued logo. I will have this for quite some time. |

| This is a great base layer! The merino wool rings true to what you should expect from that material. It fits true to size although it seemed to run a little long in the body and sleeves, but that was a bit of a plus for me. They do stretch a little but always go right back to shape. These are very versatile and extremely insulating and a great addition to the collection! |

| 1 month in the same shirt 08-24-09 |

| I spent an entire month long expedition in the Merino Zip Tee recently. It performed relatively well, but the white sleeves became brown in a matter of days and holes emerged where my backpack rubbed against the shirt within about a week. I also feel that while this wool may make you smell less bad in a typical human BO kind of way, in the end you still smell bad, just a different kind of bad. Maybe more like a "wet sheep" as the other reviewer said.
In any case, the shirt worked well to deflect the sun (we were on glacier most of the time) and managed heat and moisture just fine. It did stay damp for longer than I expected, but I didn't feel cold in it when it was damp like I would with a synthetic baselayer.
Also, after two washes the sleeves are still brown :( Its probably not going to make it after what I put it through. |

| Love this type shirt most out of everything I own! Actually I like the crew neck most but I have some of each type. The XL fits like a large should on me, so you might want to size up. Just dont forget that the sleeves will be a little longer. I wear one of these almost everyday and they have yet to smell bad once (I dont like to was them much)! Even that wet sheep smell that I have heard of. If you are looking for the crew neck type, Stoic Merino Tees are actually the same shirt with a different label. They all breath awesome in even 60 degree weather, hold back the stink, soft as can be, and keep extra heat in too. |

| This is some of the best merino I've felt, better than my Ibex. It's also well designed until it comes to the collar. I'm 5'11 160lbs and I have another BC Merino crew neck in a small that's perfect for a base layer. However the Zip Tee had to be returned. The body fit the same but the size of the opening of the collar was disproportionately large and it made it not as functional as it cold have been... And it looked rather gay (not that there's anything wrong with that;). Maybe the medium would have worked.
Bottom line, it's as good as or better than more expensive merino tops and it may fit you better than it fit me. |

| Good base layer 10-15-09 |

| This is a great merino wool base layer. It does everything you'd expect from wool: wicking, fast-drying, no odor, etc...
However, I did find the sizing a little weird. I ordered a small (I usually wear medium for other garments like the patagonia capilene) and I was very pleased with the length of the sleeves and center back, but it was tight around the chest and armpits. The medium would probably have been better for the chest but I can't imagine the length of the sleeves!
Also, be aware! the Tahoe color doesn't come close to looking like the picture! It is more green than blue and the sleeves are grey.
Overall, if you are ok with a tight fit, then you'll definitely want to check this out. Very decent price and thumbholes rock! |

| This is a great top. Thin yet warm and breathable. Merino wool is an amazing material that does not hold stink in, and is amazingly durable. I wear this top every morning during my bike commute. From early fall through late spring in the Seattle weather this top has been the staple of my layers. I am 6'2" 180lbs, and the large fits good. Little long in the body, but the performance fit makes up. GREAT TOP. BUY ONE>>> |

| I wore the BC long-sleeve zip for several days and found it to be very comfortable, although sizing is a bit different than other brands out there. These tees are cut slimmer through the body and with slightly longer lengths through the torso and the sleeves. This is great for bike riding, but if you are just walking around, you may have some extra sleeve material. The thumb holes are very robust, which is a nice feature and the shirts are warm, comfortable and colorful.
I ended up giving this shirt to my brother-in-law who is tall and slim and it fit perfectly. |

| I like this shirt alot, but the color bugs me. It doesn't stop me from wearing it though... The thumb holes are great, I still can't believe that they only seem to be on wool long sleeves. Made in China (Bummer for some) |

| yet again BC outlet is great. Got two of these off of SAC and they are great. I love the fit, the feel, and thumb holes. They don't stink and the construction looks good. We will see how the wool holds up but so far so good. I'm 5'7'' 150lbs and a small is a bit too small but okay |

| The tailoring on the shirt is great for an athletic build. I'm 6' 170lbs and the medium fits snug like a base layer should. The longer sleeves are a welcome relief during activities like skiing and hiking compared to 'standard' long sleeves which tend to ride up the forearms. My only complaint was the unexpected "wet sheep" smell that comes about when the shirt gets wet. The smell faded after some washing, but was a bit of a turn off. |

| Looks great, but I had to exchange the medium for a large- it was pretty small. Also, the sleeves appear white in the photo- they are actually light gray. |

| i have tons of merino stuff- it's the best fabric unless it's really hot out. this is a nice shirt. got it for an unbelievable price on S/C. nice trim fit (i got a large - 175 lbs 6 feet). only thing not perfect is the thumbhole location, for me. my thumb is on the side of my hand, not the back where my ring finger is. but i don't even use that anyway. very nice finish on the shirt, and i like the color. i wear it as a single outerlayer. |

| Perfect layer for those chilly mornings biking, boarding, skiing, dirt biking, etc. I'm 6'1" and purchased the large and it fits perfectly. The thumb loops keep the sleeves from bunching up when putting your jacket on. Keeps you dry and warm all day long. The color is true and nice. |

| Great as the underlayer, and fits snug without being restrictive. Like that it zips halfway down - releases the heat on those days where it warms up fast. The longer sleeves and cuff are a nice touch - don't have to worry about the sleeves creeping up when pulling on a fleeze jacket. |

| I love this shirt. It's great for everything I do - cycling, hiking, snowboarding (although I found it to be TOO warm under my down), even rafting in 40 degree water in 50 degree weather! I scored it off SAC for cheap, but it's worth the full price (wish I had money for more). The only reason I give it four stars is because the thumb holes are a big too small for my large hands, and they seem to be placed in a peculiar area that causes twisting in the sleeve. |

| I'll admit, I'm not average in proportion, but XL fits my 6'4" frame and gives me room in the sleeves and the torso. Fits close like it should. I'm only 205 lbs however so you don't want to carry much extra weight around to slide into this shirt. |

| Picked this up on SAC about 8 months ago. It has become my go to, first choice, base layer whenever it is clean. The merino wool is comfortable, wicks well, and doesn't smell after several straight days of use. I didn't like the thumb holes at first, but eventually grew to really like use them all the time. I have also started wearing this as a long sleeve running shirt on cooler days. One last comment is that, through constant use the shirt has held up great, the only that has came off is the backcountrys goat! |

| I'm a 6'2" ex-collegiate swimmer and this LS tee fits perfectly on my 'gangly' arms, long torso, and big shoulders. Fit is slim and tight, but that's what it was designed for. Great as a baselayer (thumbholes are money when snowboarding) and a perfect combo of warmth and weight for a cool morning run. Say adios to the (minimal) itch after a wash or two.
I wish I'd bought 3! |

| okay, maybe not quite as nice as the sugoi merino baselayer but this one still gets the job done. colors are a little wild, but hey it's a baselayer - you wear other stuff over it!
The zip is very long for a baselayer, it's over half length almost 3/4. So you can really open it up if you get warm |

| I got this as a baselayer for my boyfriend, and he has really been enjoying it for skiing both in the resort and when touring. Merino wool isn't itchy, and it stays warmer than synthetics when damp/wet. Wool also doesn't stink as much. This is a nice light-weight top, though the arms are a quite long and are too big on him. The other thing he'd change on this Backcountry.com piece is there is a lot of fabric around the thumb loops adding a bit of bulk. This is a tight fit, but that's good for a baselayer. All in all, we'd recommend it! |

| Great price for awesome Merino layer. Sleeves with thumb hole are a plus, keep em in place. Have worn it in 0-20 degree days in Summit Co. with only a t-shirt and then my 686 coat/liner. No problem. Large zipper allows you to dump heat when it adds up. |

| bizzare sizing - doublecheck before ordering 03-23-09 |

|
| this sizing is crazy! I'm 5'8" - 140lbs. I ordered size small. The sleeves hand down to the middle knuckle, and the hem of the shirt goes down to my crotch, like a friggin miniskirt!! Yet it is uncomfortably tight all around my armpits and chest. Someone said it fits like a sausage casing - I would agree - and that would be fine since it would be used as a baselayer, so long as it didn't hang down to my crotch and have sleeves for someone with 35 or 36 inch arms!
honestly, the small would fit someone who is 6ft, 140lbs probably, but not if you're shorter or heavier than that.
totally returning this - sizing is messed up! This is why this item is on SAC with almost 900 pieces in stock! there should be a disclaimer when ordering it! |
