| I'm 5'10, 180, athletic build. I bough a medium. This jacket is made from the same fabric as an Arc'teryx Gamma SV, with similarly excellent construction. The fit differs slightly. The Shift jacket is slightly longer. The Shift neck is smaller. The wrist openings of the Shift are too big. If the wrist openings weren't so big it would be perfect. |

| the fit of this jacket seemed a little awry to me. I actually loved the color, the fabric and most importantly of the pro's, no flashy logo. with that said, the jacket lays on the short side (why does every company do this?) and the arms are awkward in the sense that in the shoulder area, you could fit two more pairs of arms. I obviously returned the item, but it may seem fit to you should you be a swarzenegarrian. |

| In a good way for sure! Most BC outerwear I am an XXL where I am an xl in arcteryx, marmot, westcomb. Of course I have a big gut. The XL fits me fine, but is tight, which is kind of how this jacket should be since it is a mid layer under a shell. I guess I am that big guy though, the arms totally filled up in the XL. the xxl is a little roomier and I like its fit. It is not an ideal fit, but yeah this is great material and brethes and keeps the water at bay for sure. Got to love the lemony color. the site does not give it justice but it looks great in real life! |

| Don't believe the negative comments. This is my second softshell. My first is a Westcomb with 3XDRY fabric and I am comparing the Backcountry with Polartech POWER SHIELD to it. I honestly like this one better. The fit for one thing works better for me. I am 6'4" and weigh about 240lbs. I own both jackets in an XL. The Westcomb is stretchy like this one except the Westcomb is always stretching on account of being a snugger fit. This one is cut slightly larger and allows my shoulders to fit without stretching the jacket. The stretch is still there and is handy for athletic pursuits where movement is necessary. Backcountry put a longer tail on this jacket which is appropriate for me so my back hair doesnt stick out when I bend over. The Polartech POWER SHIELD does a better job breathing, keeping me warm, yet not getting me over heated, and also repels water better. They are both "made in Canada" except the Backcountry cost me half as much as the Westcomb. At the time of my review the only size left is the XL. If you are similar dimensions as myself pick this up and you WILL NOT regret it. |

| This jacket really does breath (not windproof). I like it for sunny days skiing. Does a pretty good job of stopping a light rain.

| Let me just start off and say that this jacket is comfortable, light weight, and great fitting. I'm 5'10, 150 lbs and a medium fits me well. I use to be a die hard for arc'teryx, but after they started manufacturing there jackets in China I noticed the quality went way down. The shift is a far superior jacket than the gamma mx (i own both) and its way cheaper. The water repllency and the insulation of the shift is great, way better than the mx. The shift will keep you warmer. The only drawbacks to the jacket that i can think of are the jacket could use pit zips, internal pocket, an arm pocket, and velcro to adjust the sleeves. What suprised me the most was the quality of the jacket its made in canada. If you want a good technical jacket, or nice all around town jacket this is it. |

| i had expected a brighter color .... but its a really beautiful color, great material, good lining and it fits right on target i got an XL and it fits great, the only missing details, the internal flap to cover the front zipper, hopefully it wont be an issue, and it would benefit if it had something for the cuffs, like a strap or magnet, other than that its just lime my wife's arcteryx ... for about 30% of the price |

| I bought this specifically for a mid-layer under my shell, but brought it out for some cooler, rainy weather recently. I was surprised at the amount of comments based on the color (the solid black is really getting old). As for the warmth, it's deceptive from it's looks. As soon as it goes on, you know the comfort factor is there. I didn't notice the wind at all and the rain beaded real nice. Although I was only in the rain for 10-15 minutes, I took it off and shook it a few times and it was virtually dry. I am MORE than happy with the deal I got on this. |

| Wore it on a winter backpack through the smokies. It was cold, windy, and rainy, and I stayed warm and dry. I was skeptical about its ability to breathe. I thought it would keep rain out only to soak me from sweat. I was wrong! This is the best possible jacket to have in cold, wet weather. And it costs MUCH less than that A brand. And its made in Canada, A brand is made in China. |

| I absolutely love this jacket, I wear it everyday. On its own it can handle around 35 degrees and up, but when the gauge dips below that point, just throw on a sweatshirt underneath and its bomber. I'm 5'11 160, I got a large and it fits perfect, not as snug as I've heard others say but it works for me. I personally love the color, no one else has the same jacket as I've got, and it goes with most articles of clothing streetwise. Technically it's amazing, blocks about 90% of wind, vents great on hikes, I've even used it snowboarding as both a shell and a baselayer. Couldn't ask for any more, maybe some velcro on the cuffs to close those off, but still my favorite jacket right now. |

| I just bought one of these in the golden lime for $64.99 on SAC.
I have now worn the jacket for a week and found it's very well constructed, perectly fitted and has nice features. I like it even better then my Patagonia Coreskin or any other softshells I own. |

| I also scored the Shift LE for a ridiculously low price at SAC - but I think it's worth the $160. Made in Canada, the Polartec Power Shield will run you over $200 from other brands & it will keep you nice & toasty/dry without sweating you out.
The fit of the L is perfect for my 6-3, 180lb frame. This jacket is definitely not overly technical, but it has the essentials: good fit in the neck, 3 pockets that work well, a decent cuff (though a velcro cuff would be nicer) & a drawstring at the bottom to keep the chill out.
Surprising bonus: the color does NOT induce projectile vomiting. |

| The color made me a bit hesitant but now I'm rocking it just about everyday. I'm 5'11" and about 160 and the medium fits pretty snug (much more so than my M marmot sharp point jacket). The cut is definitely 'athletic' and it's plenty warm as a stand alone piece for Fall. Might have to layer up a bit more for winter. |

| While I was a bit hesitant about the color, I absolutely love this jacket. It's very light and comfortable but still quite warm. The cut of the jacket is pretty snug (much more so than my Marmot Sharp Point) and it looks great. Wind-wise, it holds up fine biking around but gets a little chilly when i switch to the motorcycle (where the Sharp Point really shines). I love showing off the goat and you certainly can't beat the price. |
