Big Agnes bags are made without insulation on the bottom because insulation loses its warmth when compressed by your body. Instead, they feature a sleeve in the bag floor into which you slide a Big Agnes sleeping pad. The result is more warmth, less weight, improved compressibility and a sleeping pad that stays put no matter how much you move during the night. Ingenious.

The duffel is not nearly as rugged as we expected it to be. Also the write up said something about "hide-away backpack straps" which are non existent on the medium sized bag we purchased. If you're looking for a waterproof tote, I would suggest the Watershed brand of duffels vs. this Big Agnes bag.

This bag is a big disappointment. The pictures online make it look rugged and useful. In reality this bag looks like something you find at Walmart. The bottom skid plate is cheap plastic that lets the water in through the grommets. Definitely not worth the money. Look elsewhere for something better.

i totally agree with the other disappointed reviewers.. I bought the XL version of this bag, b/c i was looking for a similar bag to the north face expedition duffel, but i loved the fact that this one had wheels. But that's where the thrill ended. It's definitely not as rugged as it needs to be, not by a landslide. it tore on my first trek, and while duct tape has kept it together i'm nervous to take it back into a rugged environment. I also missed the backpack straps, but i was really keen to have the wheels--too bad it tore so quickly, guess i'll be getting the north face duffel after all!

Got this bag and was not stoked that it lacked the advertised backpack straps. Zipper isn't very bomber at all and I hope it last this trip Im on.

Got it, and sent it right back. The bag looks and feels like a knock off. I was going to use it to transport SCUBA gear on an upcoming vacation but there is no way I would put my gear in it and trust that the bag would still be in one piece when I got to my destination. My recommendation: keep looking!
