Arc'teryx Fission LT Hoody - Men's
Arc’teryx takes their own approach to technical outerwear and climbing gear. Instead of imitating existing designs, Arc’teryx innovates with their own solutions. Narrow seam taping, laminated pockets, welding instead of sewing, and revolutionary WaterTight zippers are hallmarks of this Canadian company. Their distinctive designs won’t be found on the backs of every rock-jock or snow-bro, only on those adventurers that know true quality when they see it.

Perfect Winter Jacket   11-02-06
Brian K. (1): rating
I was choosing between the Fission SV jacket and this LT hoody. Normally I get hardshells for winter, because I don't like the poofy look of softshell down or synthetic filled jackets. But hardshells usually require layering and aren't warm by themselves. I just wanted a nice warm jacket I could throw on, so I went with this one since it had much more filling than the SV. Turns out the jacket isn't that poofy. It's just as bulky as my hardshell because of all the layers I had to wear. It's perfect for me since I'm constantly walking from class to class. Now I only have one thing to take off when I get indoors.

This jacket RULES   01-27-07

After spending years layering for cold weather, I really wanted a jacket that I could just through on over a T shirt. I was debating between synthetic and down, but I really wanted something that I could ski in and also wear around town without the puffy look of down. Most synthetic jackets weren't going to be warm enough, but this one is awesome. I wear it around town and on the slopes and it keeps me warm in any condition, and because it is synthetic and not down, I get the warmth I want without being so puffed up, and vulnerable to rain and snow.

This jacket is very warm for it weight and bulk, blocks wind very well. Great for everyday use no matter what the temperature is. I have wore it for almost a full year.

Great Jacket   10-29-08
aki2514032 (1): rating
As the other reviews here have noted, this is a great jacket. It fits better, and also looks better, than any other warm winter jacket that I have worn. Its very warm but not at all puffy. The quality is fantastic, and every detail is well thought out and perfectly executed. So far it has kept me nice and warm in temps down to the teens with a 15 mph wind with only a light layer beneath. My only caveat is that the front hand pockets aren't insulated. Its an expensive jacket, but given the fit and the warmth and the quality its worth every penny.

i agree w other reviewers, excellent quality, fit and warmth, but if you need any kind of ruggedness, go for the ar instead. the lt's shell is windstopper - good for stopping wind, but not much else.

fission light hoody   06-12-08

All you'd expect from Arcteryx except for durability. Too delicate and subject to abrasion. I suppose light could refer to the lack of robust fabric where it counts, in the upper chest and arms. This was the case for me. Skiing lines through the trees it didn't seem to take much for a branch to give it a good tear above the chest seam. Seems like the skin on my face is more durable in these conditions. I still like the jacket and have a supply of gore-tex patches now.

Great jacket   03-19-08
hartbro155 (1): rating
I was eyeing this jacket for a while, waiting for it to come down from $400 and when it dropped to $280, I had to have it. The quality is what you'd expect from Arc'teryx - perfect. The hood is very well designed and, although meant to go over a helmet, can easily be cinched down over a bare head. The jacket is puffier than I expected after reading many reviews, but it is a far cry from the puffiness of jackets like TNF Nuptese. It really is phenomenally warm for its size. In fact, it is very easy to over-heat in this thing if you're doing alot of moving around. Some skiers on another site mentioned that it was too hot for them [it has no venting options]. Overall, I was just looking for a jacket that would let me get from class to class up in Maine next year and so I was looking for the warmest of the warm, and this definitely fit the bill. An excellent winter jacket.

Don't go cold...   02-19-08

Does exactly what is says on the tin... Great cut, great fitting hood and neckpiece, I've done backcountry skiing in the Alps, and then gone out drinking to celebrate surviving and this jacket was perfect for all of it. An essential piece of winter clothing. I combine this with an outershell for complete warmth and dryness. Arc'teryx are No1 for this kit.
