Description of Zipp Speed Weaponry Cycling Short - Men's:
Zipp Speed Weaponry made its Cycling Shorts from a muscle-compressing blend of polyester and Lycra to conserve your energy—don’t waste juice when you need every last drop to make it over that pass. This performance fabric also wicks away perspiration to keep your skin dry and comfortable. For crotch-coddling comfort, Zipp added a multi-layer anatomical chamois with Elastic Interface Technology. The result is cushioning that moves with your body from the first mile to the last.
I ordered the red ones and they look as good as the picture - it's an awesome red. I'm a 32 waist so I got the mediums, they fit snug, but not compression. So, I liked them so far. But the fabric is thinner than my Pearl Izumi Ultrasensor's, and the chamois is nothing special. What I really didn't like though, is that the lycra fabric was slippery on my bike seat and I kind of slid around, vs the PI's that have a little bit of grip to them, and I stay planted on the seat better.
Alright, the description says compressions tights, but I've got running and cycling tights from sugoi and c-wx and these Zipp ones don't even come close. These shorts are skin tight, but they don't compress. As for the chamois, I was pretty disappointed with it as well. I compared it to the sugoi and it's probably half the density and weight, but the Zipp chamois feels more diaper like. Don't know how they got it to be smaller but more bulky, but somehow they managed to 100% screw that up. They are going back.
They are not compression shorts, so don't get them if that is what you are looking for.
The chamois may be a little bit too big for the size of short, at least in the 'small'. It tends to bunch up in the center a bit more than it should.
They look nice.
