You like to move fast and light, unencumbered by a hefty backpack and weighty boots. Vasque blended rugged leather, mesh, and a Gore-Tex waterproof breathable membrane to create the lightweight Men’s Breeze Low VST GTX Hiking Shoes. Stomp through mud and puddles and your feet stay dry. Scramble on a hot day, and your feet stay comfortably cool. Vasque Spine Technology (TPU and gel in the midsoles) reduces impact forces and stabilizes your heels, so your feet don’t fatigue so quickly when you carry a backpack or hike a dozen miles.
Bottom Line: Low hikers for your fast and light adventures.
First real foray into waterproof shoes, so take this with a grain of salt. Picked them up before a few weeks on New Zealand south island. Normally I wear a 10 to 10.5 in shoes, picked up a 9.5 in Vasque and they were the right size. Stretched a bit in the toe box as they originally rubbed on my little toe. Kept my feet dry walking through ankle deep mud and running and stagnant water. Liked the tongue being connected to the shoe. Adequate support, I have been leaning more to low cut shoes over the years, favoring lighter weight.
My old standard Salomon hiking shoes have worn out and are no longer available. It seems that well-made, stiff-soled hiking shoes with good arch support have gone out of style in favor of ultralight, unsupportive running shoes. That may be great for the street, but I like a beefy sole for a 10+ mile day hike. These shoes are as breathable as a waterproof shoe can be, but most importantly, they provide the foot support I need.
Great product at a good price!
