Description of Vasque Aether Trail Running Shoe - Men's:
Lace up the Vasque Men's Aether Trail Running Shoe and knock out your competition. While not as lightweight as its namesake, the twelve-ounce Aether Trail Running Shoe anesthetizes your feet better than a dose of Hunter S. Thompson. An EVA midsole and forefoot inserts cushion your comedown, so you don't freak-out in the middle of nowhere. High-rebound heels and a Vasque Aether outsole take the fear and loathing out of the desert.
Bottom Line: Give your feet a dose of running Aether.
I mean it. I wore them twice. TWICE. The first time was a 45 min trail approach (1.5 hr RT). The second was a 10 min trail approach (20 min RT). This is less than 2 hours of walking in these shoes. After the second "walk" the soles started coming off on the heels of both shoes. Just a little bit - but common, two hours of use and they start to come apart. What a joke. These are made for trail running??? Really???????? They cannot even handle trail walking.
I had a pair of Vasque boots that did about the same, and decided to give this seemingly popular brand another chance. Never again.
If you do want to buy them - the sizes run a little large.
These shoes are worse than the Buffalo Bills.

Trail Running? 12-18-09
Anonymous:
Have had these shoes for a very short period of time. They are not trail worthy, not even road worthy. The mesh fabric quickly pulls away from the toe cap. The sole material is damaged very easily. Not worth the price, even at discount.
I bought this shoe last spring on sale. It's a good shoe overall... I like the look of it, it's comfortable for walking around town or just hanging out. Unfortunately, it just doesn't seem designed for running. Like all the Vasque products I've encountered, it has no arch support, which for me is fine. However, the sole is so stiff, even after over 6 months of use, that I couldn't possibly imagine running in it for much longer than a mile without my feet getting tired. My feet need the flexibility to roll in a shoe.
On the bright side, the stiffness of the sole means that this has become my go-to shoe for biking when using normal pedals.
So all in all a good shoe, just not for its intended purpose.
