Vans Andreas Wiig Snowboard Boot
Since 1966 Vans has been putting shoes on the feet of skaters and surfers. Their canvas shoes with gum rubber soles gripped onto slick piers and skinny skate decks like nothing else before it. In short time their waffle pattern sole and colorful uppers became synonymous with southern California board riding culture. Throughout the '70s and '80s skatedecks grew bigger, surfboards got smaller, and music got louder. It was during these fast times that Vans solidified their reputation with legendary skateboarders and original punk rockers, Tony Alva and Steve Caballero. To this day, Vans shoes have been worn to more skate missions, mosh pits and surf breaks than any other.

Description of Vans Andreas Wiig Snowboard Boot:
Pull on the Vans Andreas Wiig Snowboard Boot and ride like the Norwegian powerhouse himself. Well, we can’t really promise that, but the Andreas Boot will give you the fit, feel and comfort to tackle any terrain. Vans’ Quadfit Asym-X thermal-liner molds to the bone and ligament in your ankle and lower leg to give you an anatomically sound and supportive fit. The Flight Core Air Snowaffle Sole rocks a compression-molded EVA midsole, and cored-out flex grooves in the heel and forefoot for stability and comfort when you ride the pow or back-country kickers. Standard lacing allows you to adjust the fit to your riding style. Click on the sizing chart to watch Wiig give us the lowdown on his boot.

Bottom Line: Forge your own path.

It's like a toe orgy without the cheese.   01-16-09

Very, very comfy, and also very, very stiff. I'm a freerider so I was looking for a stiff boot and I hit the nail on the head with this one. A couple of features: nice inner liner with ankle strap, it has a flexy material near the toes so you can wiggle them, the inside laces are attached to the shell, NOT the liner, keeping the liner tight against the boot. The outside shell is a little bulky, so make sure they fit inside your bindings. I used to wrap the laces around my ankle to make it super tight up there, but one pair of eyelets are attached to a flap of material that wrap around to the back of the boot, so when you tie the boot it pulls the top of the boot nice and tight around your ankle/calf. This will save your fingers a little from the rug burn you get from trying to pull your laces tight. Drawback, that little flexy bit I told you about in the toe box, the one that lets you wiggle your toes, it's not as insulated as the regular liner material so your toes might get a little cold on really frigid days. But you can wiggle them so it's not all bad, just wear thick socks if it's going to be a cold one.

Smell of the deep China outhouse. Inner lace has no hold. The tongue seems to be made for another boot. Painful after only a few minutes. Poor product.
