Description of The North Face Elephant Hill Woven Shirt - Long-Sleeve - Men's:
After getting settled into your car camping site, roll up the sleeves on your The North Face Men’s Elephant Hill Woven Shirt, grab your fishing rod and tackle, and walk to the lake. This soft, silky, relaxed-fit shirt breathes and protects your arms from the sun’s rays. When you return to town, wear the classic-looking The North Face Elephant Hill to dinner—no one will know you cleaned a trout while wearing this shirt.
Bottom Line: The Elephant Hill—for outdoor and indoor use.
I should also add that the product photo may be of a previous/different season's version of the Elephant Hill. Mine did not have the red logo patch above the pocket. Mine also has a button-down collar which doesn't appear in the photo.
I bought one of these shirts in blue, which BC doesn't carry. Maybe this year's model? It does have the TNF logo and isn't a button down collar, so definitely to be worn in a bit more of a relaxed setting. As in some other TNF shirts I have, the fit is just a bit off. I may just be inbetween sizes, but at 5'9", 150lbs, I can't seem to find a shirt that doesn't envelop me. Granted, the rest of the shirt is awesome - feels wonderful, looks great, stands wear pretty well - but I feel silly wearing it anywhere. The small's sleeves were too short, but the medium's torso is disproportionally wide and short. Something to be worked on. Still a good shirt, especially if you're not quite shaped like me.
The Elephant Hill's fabric is made of a large percentage of Modal so is very soft - one of this shirt's best features. Be careful not to use too much heat when tumble drying or the fabric will pucker - but the fabric does take an iron well. I got the Soy color (a light tan) with black stripes which I really like - the color rendering in the picture really doesn't do it justice. Functionally, the collar is a button-down, the chest pocket has a hidden zipper that isn't too obtrusive, and the sleeves can be rolled-up and secured with a small hidden strap - all features I like. I'm lucky in that most TNF size M shirts fit me very well (and their cotton shirts don't shrink much after washing so no need to buy big). Even though the fit is fairly relaxed, this shirt, as with most TNF clothing, is tailored more towards medium to slim bodies like mine.
