Description of The North Face Derby Pant - Women's:
The North Face Women's Derby Pant can take whatever a wicked day on the slopes dishes out. Fully taped seams keep you dry when it's coming down and pant-a-lock compatibility has you covered from head to toe. And when your engine starts overheating, crank open The North Face Derby Pant's chimney vents so you can keep riding hard without blowing a gasket.
Bottom Line: Demolish the mountain with gusto—metaphorically speaking, of course.
I ordered these in Sour Patch Yellow, which appears to be a very pale yellow in the picture. In reality, these pants are a les-attractive flourescent greenish color. I ordered a size L because I wear a size 10, but the large was far too big even with wool pants underneath. I ended up sending them back and getting the North Face Bugsy pant in a size M, which fit well, and are very cute (much more expensive, however).
I like these pants for nordic skiing. They do run slightly big, particularly in the waist, but they have both belt loops and straps to tighten them. Since they are not lined, the extra room makes them good for wearing over base layers and still be comfy and unrestrictive enough to ski in.
I agree, the waist is big. I take a small in about everything, and I should have gotten an XS in these because the upper part is almost awkwardly big. They have pull tabs but looked a little bunchy when pulled. But I think I will like the high waist for when I wipe out, and the pockets are promising.
