Description of The North Face Sentinel Windstopper Softshell Jacket - Women's:
The wind is absolutely insulting on your backcountry ski touring trip. Luckily The North Face Women’s Sentinel Windstopper Softshell Jacket provides a wind-blocking layer between you and gusty, wet weather. The softshell fabric sheds light rain and snow, breathes, and stretches. Wear this Windstopper as an outer layer in the spring, or layer it under a jacket during frigid mountaineering treks.
Bottom Line: What did you say? It’s whaaaat? I can’t heeear you … oh, it’s wiiindy out. Huh, I didn’t notice.
Perfect for out & about town, perimeter basecamps, and the perfect softshell for snowshoeing. She wore this in New Hampshire and was absolutely delighted that she brought it along. It was paired with her TNF Citation II. Her only complaint was that it didn't breathe fairly well with this combination and that alone, it was inadequate for that particular climate conditions. Other than that, it's one of her favorite "go-to" gear.
This is a great jacket. I bought it because I saw my friend wearing it one day and I got instant jacket envy. It's just not made for me though... I've tried various North Face jackets now and I always have the same problem..... if the arms fit right, the chest is too tight, and if the chest fits right, the arms are too floppy! The only jacket so far that fits me fight is the XS Women's Cipher, and it's not as thick as the Sentinel which makes me sad :(
I am petite (5'2", 124 lbs) and rather busty, but I've never had a problem fitting things in the past. So if you're built anything like me and having problems with North Face jacket fits, give the Cipher a try.
I got this jacket in black XS because I like my tops semi fitted when I ski...it is so flattering and warm. The fuzzy lining feels great with short sleeves. Totally worth it, especially at this price :)
