Description of The North Face Dhaulagiri GTX Backpacking Boot - Men's:
You won't be climbing any 8,000-meter peaks in The North Face Men's Dhaulagiri GTX Backpacking Boots. But you could carry a 60-pound backpack for several miles while wearing these supportive, rugged, waterproof hiking boots. The North Face used X-Frame technology in these boots—TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane) Xs embrace the medial and lateral sides of the ankle to prevent rolling. PU midsoles and EVA heel inserts absorb the shock from your feet hitting the ground with a full load on your back. Full-length TPU shanks between the mid- and outsoles protect your feet from rocks yet aren't rigid and unresponsive. The Gore-Tex membranes keep your feet dry in wet weather or when crossing shallow streams.

Bottom Line: The North Face Dhaulagiri GTX—sturdy, waterproof boots for the backpacker.

Great Design   11-04-08

These are a very light/quick boot, with great support and construction. I think the description of this product is 100% accurate. Even being a fast, light hiking boot they take a good month to break in, but that's a good thing in my opinion. The gore-tex works just like it should, the only place my socks get wet was from some snow that fell in through the top because I wasn't wearing gators. I expect these boots to last a long while, the sole will be the first thing to go I imagine. If you weigh 300+ lbs though, these are probably not the boot you want to go with. But for anyone around 200lbs this is one awesome (extremely light) boot! These boots run 1/2 size large (as do most hiking boots), but that's good because it allows room for an extra pair of socks and keeps your toes from smashing into the end of your boots and prevents lost/black toenails. I ended up getting the all black boot from another etailer, but if brown or red is your thing how can you beat $32 off?

They're OK   09-12-08

Pretty cool for weekday and weekend jaunts in your basecamp, but I wouldn't suggest that you take them to the trails. They won't hold up. But I must say, they are waterproof - in light to medium rains - so don't try to cross any shallow streams as taunted in the description. And, they have a lot of contrasting designs that makes them nice to look at and to be noticed. Oh well.

I got these really for the sale price and they looked very cool. Got them in and Tried them on . First off they run about a size larger. These have the worst fit very cheaply made . They have zero support on the ankle!! They are thin!!! like a sneaker !!! The boots are horrible I am sending mine back. Really don't expect a fit like an asolo or montrails these boots are trash. I went out today and spent 200 on a pair of asolo's worth every penny!!!
