Description of The North Face Horizon Cargo Short - Women's:
Wear The North Face Women's Horizon Cargo Short for your late-spring backpacking trip in Utah's canyonlands. These nylon shorts are abrasion-resistant, so they hold up better than your legs when you push through willows and tamarisk. Should you decide to take a swim or need to cross a river with your pack on, these shorts dry quickly so you can continue your hike without feeling soggy. The Horizon's cargo pockets hold snacks and your GPS.
Bottom Line: Zip up your The North Face Horizon Cargo Shorts, and get off the beaten path.
Shorts waistline runs large. Adjustments are made via flat drawcord, which you knot. The resulting fabric "gathering" bulk leaves a rather unflattering effect. During my recent bp trip, the knots both slipped through the provided hole- so make a large knot! On a more positive note, great fabric and pockets. No irritating fabric "rub" on thighs, even during rain.
The material for this short is excellent - quick drying and light, as advertised. Well constructed as expected from TNF. But the waist is not functional - the final fit is with a tie cord, which makes for poor fit, and isn't functional enough for the uses this short ought to work, such as wearing with a daypack or backpack. Nice pockets, though.
I never write reviews but I do have to weigh in on these shorts. They rock. I have been wearing them to go running almost every day for the last year. They haven't faded that whole time with all that use. Running shorts never have enough pockets and these have plenty. Also the light-weight nylon does not chafe. Don't know that this is necessarily their intended use but they are truly great for running. My runs are actually not as good when I'm wearing an alternate set of shorts because these are in the laundry. Bought two more pairs so should cease to be an issue.
