Description of The North Face Resolve Jacket - Boys':
The North Face Boys' Resolve jacket is a tough rain shell for kids who trek through precipitating climates. Fully waterproof and seam sealed, the Resolve keeps junior dry whether he's waiting for the school bus or hiking to see the redwoods. The fully adjustable hood stores in the collar so it's out of the way when it's time to play.
Bottom Line: When your little one needs a serious rain jacket, get him The North Face Resolve.
My mistake that I misread the description and thought it was a little heavier than it actually is. And, I agree with another reviewer, this jacket runs small, tho not as small as Columbia.
Hood rolls up nicely and easily fits in the collar. The hood is also large enough to go over a fleece hoodie's hood so on colder mornings, my son can wear both hoods.
My only complaint is the mesh lining gets "stuck" to the velcro tabs on the side of zipper very easily and if you don't carefully separate the two each time you wear the jacket, you can easily wear away or worse, tear the mesh lining. While adults may take the time to carefully separate the two, not so little boys, I'm afraid.
All in all, my son likes the jacket and it does keep him dry and warm when layered over a heavier sweater or fleece jacket.
I bought this jacket for my son (7yrs.) as a rain jacket to wear during any season. On colder days he can layer it with a fleece vest underneath. I do, however, disagree with another reviewer. I felt the jacket runs somewhat small, especially if you wish to get more than one season wear. The fleece lining around the collar was a great touch. I'm very satisfied, as is my son.
I bought three of these for my sons (ages 9, 7 1/2, and 4). They run true to size (not small like Columbia) and are a great water-repellent jacket for 40-60 degree weather, depending on how much layering you do underneath. They breathe well and are very lightweight. I use them primarily as rain gear in moderate weather.
