Use the finger loop to clip the Recon Gloves to your carabiner and harness—the loop keeps the glove's fingers pointing up so moisture won't invade the insides. Since a runny nose usually accompanies alpine climbs, The North Face added a soft nose wipe on the thumbs.

Seemed like a well made glove, but I returned them immediately after doing a dunk test with the gloves on. The entire thumb section is NOT made of waterproof material and soaked through entirely to my thumbs. Like I said, it seems like a well made glove just not what I was looking for.

Excellent for ice climbing - I live in La Paz Bolivia, and I used them to climb the Huayna Potosi at 6.100 meters over sea level, very warm and good abrasion for ice axe. May be it was not complete waterproof as I was expecting.

With the liner being slightly bulky compared to the soft outter shell I replaced them with thinner glove warmers which fit perfectly. The longer cuff is really nice although it's slightly narrow for most ski jackets. (I have a Northface Mnt. Light with a denali underneath.) They allow for a good grip on ski poles and comfortable long enough for all day use. My only real complaint is that they're not made with gore-tex.
