Description of The North Face Furallure Down Vest - Women's:
The North Face Women's Furallure Down Vest keeps your core super warm with 600-fill down, and the removable faux fur trim on the hood adds urban style. Thanks to water-resistant HyVent fabric, the Furallure Down Vest won't soak up every drop of moisture when it starts snowing. This puffy vest adds a super-warm top layer on your trips into town, and you can layer the Furallure Down Vest under a weatherproof shell during winter storms.
Bottom Line: Cure your winter chills with down and fur.
I live in Australia and bought this vest (got the green tweed) hoping that once it got here it would be everything I was expecting. I wasn't disappointed, I'm 5.9" and a size 8(US) and the medium fit perfect, small enough to wear a lightweight shirt under but can also fit heavier sweaters without feeling uncomfortable. What I love the most is that although this is a very warm vest I don't look like the Michelin man and therefore can wear it for walks, to the shops etc...
I've had mine for about two months and I haven't seen one feather emerge nor do I think I will. The stitching is solid and the material is hard wearing, you'd really have to try hard to rip or wear this vest out. I really don't think that anyone would be disappointed with the craftsmanship of this vest.
The faux fur is great, looks funky but if / when it goes out of fashion you can remove it. .
The only negative thing I can think of is; if you're going to be using this for backcountry skiing, boarding, walking, it is quite bulky due to the thick material so doesn't pack down well and is fairly weighty if you were adding it to a overnight pack. Personally I love it.
This vest is great! There's no feathers coming through the fabric, which drives me crazy, and the fabric won't pill- another big plus! I live in Alaska and wanted something to keep me warm but that wasn't a parka and this is it! The only minor drawback is that only the fur around the hood comes off and not the hood itself- but for me that wasn't the end of the world. I would HIGHLY recommend this vest to any and everyone!
