Description of The North Face Foundation Bib - Men's:
The North Face constructed the Men's Foundation Bibs for powder hounds who want a baggy fit. These burly pants' full bibs provide a barrier against the pow that'll keep you keep you dry and happy. The Foundation Bibs have articulated knees and ample ventilation, making them ideal for backcountry skiing. They also perform wonderfully in-bounds since The North Face seam-sealed their waterproof breathable HyVent shell. You won't need to worry about water soaking through on those unpadded chairlifts anymore.

Bottom Line: The North Face gives you the foundation of a bomber skiing get-up with these durable bibs.

Solid stuff   12-07-07

Solid, breathing, wind-proof and warm. I was replacing my old Lowe bib pants with something new, and these pants have so far been working great. Works well in the mountains. My old Lowe pants was great for ice climbing, but for telemark-skiing they would get a little too hot for my taste, so i wanted something that breathes a little better. I like the snug fit, but its also flexible enough when you wear more than one layer under it.

multi-purpose   10-07-07

Bought this for my husband, who skis, and he LOVES it. He hasn't been able to retire his old bib entirely, though, because I beg the Foundation Bib off him anytime the kids want me to take them sledding--I hate being cold, I hate bulking up in layer upon layer of clothing, and I hate the too-short fit of most ski pants; basically, the only time I don't hate winter is when I'm wearing this bib. My brother bought the same bib to use for mountaineering. I thought he was crazy to climb in ski bib, but it has held up so well that another climber from his mountaineering group switched to a Foundation Bib.

Great Bibs   12-28-07

I am an avid snowboarder/skier and prefer bibs to pants. Bibs offer better warmth and prevention of snow up my back. I searched high and low for a quality set of bibs to replace my 7 year old Sierra Designs. The Foundation bib is a roomy cut - not snowboarder loose or snobby Aspen ski lodge tight. The bibs use a single side zip for entry/exit and have plenty of pockets and vents. I am a big guy (6"2, 245 lb) and am comfortable in a L, including bending over to strap in and out. The pants are warm, but not hot. I use Outlast long underwear and some dacron pants (a little thinner than 100 weight polarfleece). They are definitely waterproof and the DWR is extremely effective in repelling water from wet ski lift chairs or extended periods sitting in the powder The pockets are roomy and most are zippered. I didn't find the pants to be heavy. They are lined and made of a substantial material, so don't expect flyweights. I have owned several different The North Face products and have been pleased with most of them. The lower end products tend to be heavy but well made. These feel like my old Mountain Light jacket in terms of quality and relative weight. I think they will last quite a while and represent a good value. I rate on the basis of value, so I think these are consistent with the price.
