Maybe people who spend the vast majority of their day looking hot in the lodge can afford to sacrifice performance for style. You, however, are not one of those lodge-loungers. Grab the Spyder Women’s Vail Jacket. This jacket combines feminine lines and style with a 20K-rated membrane, critically taped seams, and low-bulk insulation. X-static Silver Fiber insulation blocks odor and increases the warmth factor when you’re riding the chairlift. Underarm zips dump heat during mogul runs, and the removable hood and zip-out powder skirt reduce bulk when you wear this Spyder jacket into town.
Warmest jacket I've ever owned. I originally bought a larger size, assuming that I'd have to layer under it, but returned it for a smaller size when I found that I only needed a light base layer underneath. For reference, I'm a transplant to the west from Florida and am ALWAYS cold. I don't even chill on the chairlift any more and if I get too warm while hoofing it backcountry, I just open the vents and all is good with the world. The jacket also stretches with you while you move and doesn't bunch or gather, so it's extremely comfortable. Get this jacket- worth every penny.
