The water-repellent Stretch Ripstop fabric has a soft-brushed interior and a roomy cut, so you can layer underneath it on chilly winter days. Waterproof zippers, an attached hood, and a powder skirt keep you warm and dry, so you can concentrate on finding the freshies. Unzip the underarm vents to dump heat as you boot uphill, and stash your glove liners in the two zipper hand pockets when your paws start sweating.

I purchased this jacket as an all around water/wind resistant cool weather jacket. The fabric and fit were pleasing and I liked the water resistant zippers. The hood however left a few things to be desired. The drawcords for the hood were set back from the edge of the hood an inch or so making for a bonnet-like apprearance when drawn tight. The rubber drawcord keepers wouldn't keep from loosening when you lifted your head up. I don't downhill ski but wonder if this hood would work better with a helmet. I returned the jacket for the problems with the hood. If you purchase this jacket you might consider your sample of this jacket and the hood issues. Backcountry did make my return easy and for mail order I would definitely shop them again.

Jacket is very good. I used it for backcountry skiing and only limitation was no pit zip. Loved the hood when the weather changed!

Ordered the new soft shell spyder jacket, wicked stuff. Does everything you would expect from spyder. Just dont buy if you are from UK. Godd service at site but they insist on using UPS so items are third more, at least, more expensive, cost me 70 pounds to get it imported. Wouldnt do that again.
