Pliers on multi-tools usually suck—it’s like they were an afterthought. Well, SOG Knives got fed up with crappy pliers and came up with the S-31 Paratool. See that little lever thing with a hole in it? You use that to swivel the head so you can grip things at awkward angles, making this multi-tool indispensable in tight spots. In fact, SOG touts this thing as the only multi-tool on the planet with a multiple angled plier head. Plus you get everything else SOG Knives is known for—like ventilation holes for an easy grip, serrated and flatblade knives, and a couple mini screwdrivers.
Patented action allows plier head to swivel 140-180 degrees to get into tight spots
Bottom Line: Puts all other plier-equipped multi-tools to shame.
Got off S&C for a good price. Definitely worth it for the $$, but not as burly as my leatherman. It's a good backup and I am happy with it so far, but I wouldn't think it was a good value for $90.
The only thing I don't like about this tool is how heavy it is. I take it on all my backpacking trips and everyone keeps complimenting me on this awesome tool! It has all the things I might possibly need and comes with a leather pouch that locks to my backpack belt for easy any-time access. The knife itself is not as strong or long as it would be on a stand-alone knife, but it's super sharp and seems to be quite durable.
