Very comfortable, sized smaller than usual. 10-15-09
Be aware that the sizing on this is a size smaller than usual. Very stretchable and comfortable. I wouldn't wear this as a primary defense against the rain, but for the wind and a skiing on a good day this should do the trick. Has comfortable fleece insulation, not too thick but not so thin that you need to layer down. Also looks very good, very wearable for casual outings. This had become my go-to outerwear for everything.

Just got this jacket from SAC in the mail today and was a little disappointed in a few things.
1) The sizing was way too small. I went according to the Salomon chart and was right in the range for a size small. At 5'8" with a 35" chest I thought small would be a good fit considering that the chest size for a small is 36"-38". But alas, I would be lucky to fit ANYTHING under this jacket less a tight t-shirt. Also, the forearms are WAY too tight. I can barely pull my arms out of the sleeves, and definitely can't roll my sleeves up at all. Length was good. I wanted a form fitting jacket, but not something this tight. I think a medium would have fit me better, but I'm even skeptical about that.
2) Its windproof and waterproof on the front and sleeves only. The entire back panel is just a piece of synth venting material. If you're caught in the rain you'll likely be miserable. I guess it'd be fine with a backpack on but I wanted something that'd keep me a little dryer in bad weather.
Also I thought I'd mention that there is no transparent wrist portal. Although I didn't care about that I just thought I'd mention it.
The positives are that the pockets are great, and the material on the sleeves and chest is really nice. I liked the front zipper vent too. Its too bad that they didn't make it all that material, and make the sizing a little better.
