Bust out the Salomon XW Lab Skis when you finally get the nerve to book that Alaska heli-skiing trip or sign up for the local freeride comp. These big-mountain badasses will take you down some lines that will make you glad you packed an extra pair of drawers. Massive just doesn't quite describe these Salomon freeride skis. With a length of 198cm and a 140mm wide shovel, these babies are made to handle the steep and really, really deep—at haul ass speeds. Salomon gave the XW Lab a full wood core for maximum power transmission and full-width total edge reinforcement for killer durability, but novices need not apply—these planks are for the straight lining, cliff hucking, holy-shit-did-he-really-just-send-that crowd. Carbon reinforcements keep these sticks from folding under pressure when you're maching down an AK face or at the freeride comp at your home mountain.
Bottom Line: When the steep and deep calls—the Salomon XW Lab Ski answers.
like i said last year: longer skis just do somethings better. things like: remain stable at high speed, give you a bigger sweet spot for stomping airs, and great float. they have sidecut too so when things are firm you won't be sliding your turns around, you'll be laying arcs!
Just bought as a replacement for a pair of 195 ak rocket skis, these skis rock.Im a east coast skier that gets out west often,so far have only used in the east coast, put them on just to test them out and they haul ass. They are not for the timid but if you like to motor they are spectacular, cant wait to try them out in the fluff.Would wholeheartedly recond these skis for anyone with a desire to fly fast
