I love the stitching and style. Alas, too long on me (I'm 5'4"). Thought they'd be OK with ski boots on, but still too long and too boxy on the bottom half. They're going back...
These have been great pant in variable conditions. The only thing missing is vents, it gets a bit warm skinning. The pants have a soft lining so I can ditch the long underwear on warm days and stay comfortable. A month ago it was raining on the hill (rare in Colorado that time of year), I stayed dry and warm. Pants move with me which is great for dropping a knee. They have been great in all conditions.
Although I have a pair of Arctryx Hardshells for alpine and b/c skiing, I saw these softshell Salomons on backcountry.com at a killer price. I saw, I ordered, they arrived the next day. Like a crack addict, I just can't say no to great gear at good prices---whether I need it or not.
They are so fashionable and comfortable (nice stitching/pocket/zipper features) and fit so well, even though I don't need them, I can't bear to send them back. They seem to run a bit long for me, but I think I can deal with that. I can't wait to try them and switch out between my new soft and old hardshells.
