I received my jacket about a month ago and I love it. The jacket is a great all around piece of gear that is good for any season. So far in a month it has already seen snow, serious cold, and rain. You can wear it just as a shell to keep out a serious downpour and paired with some underlayers it is dry, windproof and toasty warm. I love that it doesn't have the usual crunchy stiff feel of gore-tex. The more you wear it, the better it feels. The jacket also seems very well built so I have no concerns about durability. The jacket is also a great cut for women. I'm average height and build and the jacket isn't too long or short and has a more feminine cut but has room for layering. Salomon could have gone with a removable hood but I usually leave mine on anyways. As the hood isn't bulky it doesn't really get in the way. I've worn a lot of gore-tex and various shells and this one is tops.

Highest quality fabric, seam tapes/welds, pockets. Salomon thought of everything. LOVE the lycra wrist bands with thumb loops. Great confident red color, different than many other red ski jackets. Only problem was fit. Size small in this shell fit me like a glove, i.e. very closely fitted. I should have bought a size larger but no longer available in red. The length fell right at my hips and was a bit tight right there (because I am a size 6-8 below and 4-6 above). Wish the jacket zipped up from bottom as well as down from top. Still gets 5 stars.

This jacket has a lot of added bonuses to it that the main description leaves out. For example, it has a warm, soft, stretchy gasket with thumbhole (similar to Icebreaker sweaters) at the wrist you stick your hand through. This cuts out the cold draft that always flows right up my arm. This feature is meant to keep out the snow during the inevitable ski crash, but I use this jacket for everyday use and that gasket is wonderful while driving and walking the dogs. For that reason, I am warmer in this jacket than many of my heavier jackets, even though it is a shell. Other features I love include the hood, which is extremely adjustable and stays where you put it. For those of us who wear glasses and get annoyed at hoods that creep down your face, pressing into ones' glasses, this hood is a major selling point in and of itself. And speaking of glasses, the arm pocket has a nice little goggle/glass cleaner cloth that is strapped to the inside of the pocket itself via a lanyard, so you can clean the water off your glasses and keep on going. Bottom line is I have been using this jacket for everything from kayaking to everyday use since it arrived. It also has a flattering cut for women, is roomy enough to wear 1-3 layers underneath, has ample pockets, the spray skirt at the waist also rocks, and the final kick to it is the wonderfully warm wrist gaskets that keep out the cold. I wish more manufacturers would create clothing as well engineered as this piece.
