Description of Patagonia Wool 1 T-Shirt - Short-Sleeve - Men's:
Keep your core from overheating with the Patagonia Men’s Wool 1 T-shirt. Patagonia built this tee using core spun technology to ensure the only thing touching your skin is the super-fine Merino wool, which rides comfortably and reduces odor when you sweat. The polyester interior increases durability and wicks moisture away from your body. Offset seams prevent chaffing while you’re on the move, and the crew collar provides comfort at the neck.
Bottom Line: Stay cool and comfortable on the mountain.
pretty spectacular once you get past the price. The ratio of merino wool : polyester doesn't seem to effect the odor resistance much if any + its so incredibly soft/ light.
So far I have used this for running, light hiking, + cycling w/o any problems, even after I a few spills.
I would rather have 2 or 3 of these shirts than the 8+ of polyester w/ partially effective anti-microbial wizardry that end up stinking by the end of the day anyway, let alone the next day. Far superior to capilene as far as odors are concerned
As for sizing, I am 5-11, 165 lbs, + athletic build - the medium fits great (as most of my shirts are mediums) w/ some wiggle room so it can transition from trail to street easily w/o looking freakish.
This shirt is so lightweight that I feel it's going to rip when taking it off while wet. But it has surprised me thus far, I have had two accidents while wearing that shirt that resulted in substantial cuts and bruises once on my arm, once on my entire back. Neither times did the shirt so much as tear, or show the least bit of wear and tear. The wicking ability is fantastic, it's been great for hiking, camping, and running. The only reason this shirt is a 4 star not a 5, is the fact that after a few normal uses the shirt has shown some signs of pilling (not in the places where I ran into things), and the cost is a bit much when not on sale. So if you're worried about pilling you may want to avoid this shirt, although the pilling sure doesn't take away from the shirts ability to function as an excellent baselayer so take it as you will. I am extremely happy with the purchase.
This is the best wool base layer I've ever owned! I usually don't like wearing wool when it's really warm, or if I'm moving/sweating a lot. I've had no problems with this in any temperature. It still keeps me warm when it's wet and I'm on top of a windy ridge, and doesn't stink after several uses - but it dries a lot quicker than all my 100% wool pieces and seems very durable. Can't wait for a long sleeve to wear in the winter.
