Bottom Line: A lightweight, all-purpose shell for foul conditions.
Not sure what happened to Patagonia and women's fit. This jacket is boxy and the sleeves are too long. Even in a size Small, the lady would need to be at least 5'6" in height with long arms for this jacket fit properly. The quality of the jacket is great, what one would expect from Patagonia but it is a heavy in weight, it weighs more than one would expect for an outer shell that is not insulated. The velcro is extremely strong that it would probably fuzz up the inner mesh lining really easily as well. I don't recommend this jacket for those looking for a lightweight athletic fitting jacket or someone petite.
I needed to fill a hole in my jacket wardrobe between 'ski parka' and 'super-light rain jacket'--this was perfect. I wore it in the backcountry and at the resort, but it also looks (and works) perfect in the city. Fits great over layers. I added pulls to the interior pockets so I could open them with gloves, and the velcro is almost too strong, but other than that, another totally awesome Patagonia product.
