Patagonia Primo Pant - Men's
Many outdoor companies profess to support preservation of the outdoors, but Patagonia is the flag carrier of the movement. In-house programs drive environmental responsibility, while product designs incorporate the same ideals into clean, functional, purpose-built clothing. From cutting-edge technical outerwear to stylish casual summer wear, Patagonia’s quality of construction and design is seldom matched.

Description of Patagonia Primo Pant - Men's:
Looking for a burly pair of pants to take on your hard-charging riding style? Check out the ultra-tough Patagonia Men's Primo Pants. Their two-layer, recycled polyester midweight canvas material takes on seasons of abuse without a second thought. Patagonia added a DWR-coating to the Primo Pants for increased water resistance in mid-winter storms and late-season slush. These bomber snowsports pants also include full-length side zippers for easy layering and ventilation. Removable suspenders keep them from sagging (too much) when you ride deep fluff.

Bottom Line: Get the winter pants as tough as you—the Patagonia Primo Pants.

Finally!   11-26-07

After searching for a tough, wind/waterproof hardshell for months, the Primo pant has me amped to go out and play in the nasty, rural Alaska winter. I was set on Gore-Tex and tried a few different Burton pants, only to be let down by the overly sloppy cut. If I'm doing a lot of hiking, I don't want the pants' crotch near my knees (the last time I wore Hammer pants was 7th grade...). These Patagonia trousers fit like they should. I usually wear 31, so I ordered the 32 in the Primo, and it's really nice. Loose enough to fit base and insulating layers without restricting my legs when the snow is at my knees and the hike is steep. The pockets are soft and roomy. The suspenders are removable. The fabric is bulletproof where it needs to be, yet has a good flexible quality to it. The lining is feathery soft. Not to mention, the pants are made with recycled fibers and Patagonia is a member of 1% for the planet. I can't say enough. Buy these. They'll have twice the life of anything else.

Tough...but   09-18-08

The Primo is a great pant...cut the way I want which is more of a traditional pant, not too baggy! I like the insulation in the seat to keep my rear warm and dry when riding the chair for our NW spring skiing season. Yes, they may keep you too warm, but that's what the full side zips are for. My only complaint was that after 1 full season of use, I switched to a lighter coat one day and put my season pass on the front pocket zipper. After one day of skiing, the plastic pass had frayed and pilled the front fabric. No problem as Patagonia's super guarantee covered a replacement pair, but I was surprised how quickly the fabric was ruined. They are still my favorite pant...and who skis with their wallet and needs a rear pocket anyway?

Solid pants, but HEAVY, and no pockets   02-07-08

These are really tough pants. Side vents are full length and allow a "bombbay" approach if you are stuck in the middle of nowhere and need to "do your business" I like the zipper flaps as opposed to other pants which use trendy "sealed" zippers (time = no seal). Suspenders seem weak/light at first, and get tangled, but after a bit of experience, they work fine. I sent these back because they only have two pockets and they are VERY heavy compared to other similar pants. They'd be ok in extreme cold and if you don't have to move much (snowmobiling?). In any other circumstance, I would expect to be sweating from the combination of insulation and having to heft their mass.
