Description of Outdoor Research Ellipse Jacket - Women's:
Outdoor Research didn’t make the Women’s Ellipse Jacket for ladies who make a few turns on the weekends. This 3-in-1 system satisfies the needs of daily hucksters, backcountry junkies, and shameless powder snobs. From the guaranteed waterproof breathability of the Gore-Tex Paclite shell to the durable, pack-battling Gore-Tex Pro Shell shoulders to the full seam-taping, the Ellipse offers all-weather protection for skiers who know no limits. Two-way underarm zip vents create a refreshing solution to warm, wet days, and the removable EnduraLoft-insulated liner jacket cranks up the thermostat during mid-winter freeze-outs. Stretch wrist gaiters and a tricot-lined collar make the Ellipse Jacket not just tough, but deliciously comfy.
Bottom Line: All the gadgets you powderhounds drool over.
This jacket is everything I have been looking for. Gore-tex, versatile, tons of features and still hardly weighs a thing. The liner jacket is thin but warm and very windproof.
It looked a bit odd on when it first arrived, the fold lines were holding fast, but it relaxed in a few minutes and I am so glad a gave it a change.
Just received this; seems like a great jacket full of technical details. Fit is good, I am 5'11, 170 lbs with broad shoulders. I ordered an XL and could probably wear a large but I like the extra space. The shape is boxy, not fitted through the waist. The liner zips in with zip along the waist above the powder skirt and snaps into the collar. All zippers (and semas) are sealed but are easy to operate. Pit zips are long and work from both ends. Hood has a reinforced brim and zips easily into the collar. Very light weight. With the technical materials it should be plenty warm. Only improvement I would want would be wrist gaiters w/a thumb hole.
I got the rose/pomegranate color - the pomegranate is much darker than I expected; thought it would be a deeper version of the body color but it is almost a brick color. Good looking jacket. I expect it to be warm when I ski but can't tell as yet because I'm in Texas, and even though it's January it's 68 degrees here. Managed to get it on Tramdock.com for half the listed price here.
This coat is great. It is not bulky and extremely lightweight, which may be deceiving, but it keeps all the wind out and body heat in. The lightweight is nice because you do not feel loaded down. It is true to size and the removable liner is easy to take out and put in. I would definitely recommend this coat.
