Oakley has a knack for smoothly tossing tech features into casual pieces, and the Tanker Jacket is living proof. This polyester hoodie features an absurdly soft velour backing, DWR water-repellent finish, and zippered hand pockets with a hidden internal drawcord. It’s the technical sweatshirt you never knew you wanted, and you won’t be able to take off.
It's nice and warm, fits true to size, and is actually pretty water repellent. It's about 15 out today and I've been wearing the jacket around, the cold only hit me in the arms and that's just because of the wind. (Midwest wind cuts right through the sleeves, but it's a hoody not a windbreaker and I was really impressed with the warmth) I wore it in the rain the other day (just a bit, not a downpour) and didn't get the least bit wet, though it really wasn't raining much. Still the material surprised me. We got some pack jackets for sudden rain when you're hiking and stuff, and this jacket definitely repels water more effectively.
The material feels great. The bottom of the jacket has a drawcord rather than being spandex or something which is great because you don't get uneven shrinkage in the wash. The hood works well at keeping you warm and keeping the rain out of your face. The handwarmer pockets work extremely well, like I said the only part of the jacket that the wind really seemed to cut through were the sleeves. Anyway, I could go on and on about all the stuff I like about this jacket, but the bottom line is that it's definitely my new favorite all purpose hoody/jacket. AWESOME! BUY IT!
Extremly comfortable. The water repelent works well -- shed snowflakes like a champ. Remember though it's not a waterproof shell. One thing that's hard to see in the pictures is the collar that's around the neck -- it really adds a nice touch that isn't on most hoodies. Drawstring waist is genious. **note: I usually wear a large, even in Oakley polos, but had to size up for this one.
