Description of Oakley The Bombastic Jacket - Men's: |
 |
You can be Mr. Lover Lover at the après spot; on the mountain you need the warmth of the Oakley Men’s The Bombastic Jacket. Goose down insulation and the features a superstar wants make this waterproof Oakley jacket a big hit. When you warm up more than expected, open the zip vents and dump some of that tropical heat. Oakley’s phone-and-MP3 pocket allows you to listen to your favorite jams while you shred, and the wrist gaiters and removable faux fur hood trim are comfortable additions. Since The Bombastic Jacket has a loose fit and a long droptail, it won’t disappoint the tall cats out there either.
Bottom Line: Bombastically warm and waterproof.

| Got this as a gift last christmas. I', 5-9, 165 and the medium is the size I have. It's loose, but that's the fit of the jacket and this is the right size for me. Plenty of room, but not overly baggy or anything. It's really warm, well-made, and different from all the North Face puffy jackets everyone wears in the winter. For the full $325 a year ago, it is a good purchase, but for the reduced price this is at now it is a steal. I'd buy it again, and I've had it one year and it's still in brand new condition. |

| I didn't get a chance to use the jacket, so I can't attest to it's durability, but it's noted features seem useful and well-placed. Thumbs up for the fake fur, wrist gaiters, magnetic snaps, and pockets. This review is simply intended to give a heads up to potential buyers.
I'm 71" tall, 44" chest, 34" waist, 185 pds, and the large size jacket pretty much swallowed me, even accounting for any layering I might have done (which wouldn't be much considering that it is very warm for it's weight). The only places that got anywhere close to fitting right where chest and shoulders. Even with my arms fully extended, the sleeves covered my fingertips. I'm all about having some long sleeves in a winter jacket that will be used in athletic endeavors, but this was just too much. And from the chest down, the jacket appeared to balloon out like a parka instead of tapering or even maintaining an even fit. I ended up looking like a big green sail.
Check out that funky blue color liner. Now imagine threads of that color also being evenly but sparsely distributed on the outside of the jacket. You really can't see this from the pics, but you'll definitely notice it when you open your package. Not a dealkiller, however, considering the price I got on SAC.
But I couldn't get around the fact that it is just too big and too loose (not just a Backcountry adjective, but printed on the Oakley label). So it's getting returned, but gets 4 stars for what appears to be a good jacket that ended up being funky in an unexpected manner. |
