Description of Oakley Mystic Jacket - Men's: |
 |
The Oakley Men’s Mystic Jacket delivers storm-proof protection and writes its own legend. Excellent waterproofing and breathability combine with fully taped seams, waterproof zippers, waist and wrist gaiters, and a magnetic storm flap to keep you dry in the deepest pow and the nastiest blizzards. Oakley’s air vent system circulates air through your core and keeps you from overheating on long ascents. The Mystic comes equipped with a Recco avalanche rescue system, so you have a better chance of being located after a slide. Stash your goggles, phone, and tunes in their respective pockets for safekeeping, and experience what the beginning of a legend feels like.
Bottom Line: Make your legendary runs in the Oakley Mystic Jacket.

| Perfect Jacket 12-17-08 |
Craig Hauser (1): |
| Nothing gets through this jacket but everything comes out. I just went skiing in the rain with it and came out perfectly dry. Better than my gore-tex jacket ever was. The venting and brethabiliy is great, no sweat stuck in it. really it is worth the money. Just compare the specs and pricing to like Arc'teryx and North Face. Another good thing about it is it is sturdy, magnets instead of velcro, a great hood, great style on the mountain and it has the recco avalanche reflector. Have not had to use that yet luckily but it feels good to have it just in case. In a nutshell it is a perfect all around jacket. |

| Mixed Bag/Overall Great 01-26-09 |

| First of all I am 5'10 165 LBS . I have a medium build with about a 40" inch chest. The outer material of the jacket is not the ordinary shiny nylon surface you often see on a gortex jacket but rather it has a hand that is more like cotton. Don't get me wrong, it is not cotton it just feels cloth like which is a big improvement from the usual. I think the downside to this is it probably makes the jacket a little heavier. The bright yellow color is really beautiful and clean looking. It is not over the top, its a classy yellow. For my taste the size medium was too baggy.
They call it a loose fit and it is, loose beyond necessity and all the extra material is just in my way. I am going to try a small and see if that works better. As far as the features go the jacket is well equipped. Great pockets, well placed, good zippers etc. When zipped all the way up my mouth is completely covered. With the hood on there is just enough room for goggles . This keeps your face warm when the icy wind is blowing. The hood completely covers my helmet. Well done Oakley. Instead of using velcro on the main zipper cover oakley chose magnets spaced about 5" apart. I'm not convinced about the magnet thing. For one the uppermost magnets will not close when the jacket is zipped up all the way. For another thing it's important to keep and data storage devices away from the magnets and there are a bunch of them. I don't want to hassle with worrying about that kind of thing. Digital camera's, cell phones,
there is even a tag on the jacket that shows a picture of a magnet and a credit card, cautioning about bringing the two into contact and wiping the data from your card.
Other then that the Jacket is fantastic. |

| Stylish without sacrificing quality 03-04-09 |
Ben (1): |
| The Mystic in Blazing Yellow is the best shell I've ever used. For boarders or skiers who want a bit more style, the jacket is great! I'm 5'7", 140lbs, with a 38" chest, and the Small fits perfectly. The arms are the right length, and the jacket still has a baggy fit (but not too much so).
Both shadow and blazing yellow jackets have a detailed pattern that looks kind-of like scratches from up close--the jackets are not just straight-up gray or yellow. Other than that, the jacket's description is very accurate.
Complaints: The shell does not really fit my Giro Omen helmet that well. With the hood over my helmet, the jacket is pulled up and I cannot zip it up all the way without squishing my nose.
It's definitely heavier than other shells, but the jacket performs well in the powder and features good breathe-ability when the vents are open. The workmanship is high quality. The yellow won't get you lost in snow, but may get you noticed by some ski bunnies.
I'm looking forward to see how the matching Mystic Pants interface with this jacket, but I'll review those after they get in and I get back from Vail. |
