got my wife this jacket for her slopes days and was overall pleased with the quality. There are several small things that could of been better but very good deal considering the price we paid for. However when comparing this to my arc'trex shell, while the construction is very close do consider that there's only a 5 year warranty vs lifetime in arc'trex stuff.
Pros:
solid construction. Has all the bells and whistles
welded seems are very nice tho there are some bleeding of the glue (welding material) that is just a tad unsightly on a white jacket
there is a powder skirt despite the backcountry's description.
cons:
loooong sleeves as noted above
wish there are more pockets
On behalf of my wife, who has not tested this in the elements yet, this is a serious jacket. It has the feel of arc'teryx, no doubt a super high quality make. Medium fits her well, she is 5'8 and thin. Has a nice fitted appearance. Less of a soft shell than one may be led to believe based on the description, but that is okay with us. Should be just what she needs for the Pacific NW.
