Description of Mad Rock El Capitan Freerider Package:
The Madrock El Capitan Freerider Package sets you up for featherweight sport climbing. Thanks to a scant 420-gram weight, this harness won't even be noticed when you're getting after it. Four gear loops offer room for pro and the minimal construction frees you up to move. Load your favorite dry white stuff in the included chalk bag (assorted colors) and get crankin’.
I'm not gonna B-S anyone here so here's my review:
It took a little while for me to get used to how the harness sits on your waist. But now, I find myself not knowing any different. The two rigid gear loops are nice in that they're set slightly behind your side. This allows you to bend a little easier and you're not getting any gear floppin' to the front which saves the gear and your junk.
This harness is definately not the most comfortable if you're looking to spend a long time sitting in it. I work at a wall and I'm constantly setting routes and being a belay slave and after an hour or so, the leg loops are cutting into my legs pretty hard.
I'm about 5'9" and 145, and the small fits me well (30" waist).
The chalk bag that comes in the package is pretty sweet, as is the sock o' chalk that you get with it.
Overview: Great harness for sport projects.

great for the price, meh for the functionality 12-17-09
So I work at a wall and do sport on the side and was pleased to find a harness, chalkbag, chalk, all for 40 bux off of SAC. Pros: Very light! Very inexpensive! Cons: not much for padding, so for long trad climbs don't expect an easy chair. Gear loops are a bit small and there is no gear loop in the back?!! what?! makes no sense to me but you can always make your own. But did I mention harness, chalkbag, and chalk for 40 bucks?
I bought this package hoping to replace a well-used, 2-year-old Black Diamond harness. I'm 5'5 with a 29" waist so I bought the size XS/S seeing that it said it would fit those anywhere from size 26 to 32 in waist. I figured if it didn't fit me, I could give it to my girlfriend (26" waist) or younger brother (28" waist). Unfortunately, this harness was so tiny, it didn't fit any of us. I was very disappointed with this harness and frustrated with my return experience. On a positive note, the chalk bag was very nice.
